What I feel is that art is powerful, the artists have spent and discovered cities for weeks, some have read many literature, some worked physically hard on the realization of what we see and they manage to give us as visitors to see life, history, reality of those industrial cities from a different perspective, a perspective of sensitive artistic respect to these places and the people living there, a thoughtful perspective of conseptual artist or a perspective of scultpurers forming with their hand and work artistic realities on places most of us have never seen so far" - Simon Mraz, "Nadezhda" project's curator.

Для человека, живущего в России, или прилично знающего ее географию, нет ничего нового в названиях городов, представленных в проекте, но, чаще всего, ряд ассоциаций с ними заканчивается на уровне "Иваново - "город невест"".
Однако художники из 6 стран мира пошли дальше и попытались показать жизнь индустриальных гигантов изнутри. Их работы вы сможете оценить уже 22-го сентября, на открытии проекта "Надежда / Nadezhda - The Hope Principle".

For a person, who lives in Russia, or who knows it's geography well, there is nothing new in the names of cities represented in the project, but usually a number of associations ends at the stage of phrase "Ivanovo -" the city of brides"".
But the artists from 6 countries have gone further and attempted to show inside life of industrial giants. You'll be able yo see their art on 22nd of September, at the opening of the project "Hope / Nadezhda - The Hope Principle".

"У индустрии и фотографии сложился полноценный любовный роман: общее детство на промышленных выставках, совместная работа на строительстве мостов и железных дорог, период упоения друг другом и последующего охлаждения, ностальгия и попытки воскресить былую страсть..." - новый выпуск Искусство - the art magazine "Industrial" посвященный эстетике и истории мануфактуры.

"Industry and photography had a full value love story: childhood in industrial exhibitions, work on construction of bridges and railways, ecstasy with each other and subsequent cooling, nostalgia and attempts to resurrect their passion ..." - a new edition of "Art" magazine called "Industrial" is dedicated to aesthetics and history of manufactory.

Один из основных кураторов проекта, Симон Мраз, о том, для кого создавался проект:
Мы запустили этот проект, так как убеждены, что Россия - это неисчерпаемый ресурс вдохновения. "Надежда" - проект, созданный для художников и ради самого процесса творчества.
В большинстве мест, в которых мы побывали - в доменных печах Магнитогорска, тоннелях Норильска, заводских помещениях автомобильного завода ГАЗ в Нижнем Новгороде - мы были иностранцами, но там ты иностранец не из-за национальности. Идея заключается в том, чтобы предоставить художникам возможность увидеть и попытаться узнать практически неизведанные с позиций искусства территории, объединить художников, мэров, директоров заводов - людей из совершенно разных миров. Это попытка сократить расстояние, и не важно - из Берлина ты, Москвы или Магнитогорска.
Я верю, что настоящее искусство появляется тогда, когда мы приближаемся к настоящей жизни.

One of the key curators of the project, Simon Mraz:
We run this project in the believe of this country as a huge source of artistic inspiration, in that sense I run our projects for artists and for artistic creation itself, for most of the places we have seen we all have been foreigners, in the blast furnaces of Magnitogorsk, in the tunnels of Norilsk, in the factory halls of GAZ car industries you are a foreigner not by your nationality.
My idea is to give artists the chance to see and get to know places that are little know territory for arts and are basis for artistic creation,
To bring together people – Artists, Mayors, Factory Directors – that are different worlds, that is a wonderful chance to cross roads, not being important wether you are from Berlin, Moscow or Magnitogorsk.
I believe we get closest to “pure” art when we touch “pure” life.

22 сентября 2015 года в Москве откроется выставка «Надежда» — специальный проект 6-й Московской биеннале современного искусства.
20 художников из 6 стран мира побывали в 7 российских городах — Выкса, Екатеринбург, Иваново, Ижевск, Магнитогорск, Нижний Новгород и Норильск — «пламенных моторах» нового индустриального советского мира. В фокусе экспозиции, составленной из фотографий, объектов, живописных и графических произведений, — размышление о понятии «надежда».

The exhibition project Надежда/Nadezhda – The Hope Principle will be opened on 22nd of September 2015 as a special project of 6th Moscow Biennale Of Contemporary Art.
20 artists from 6 countries visited 7 industrial towns in Russian - Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Ivanovo, Magnitogorsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Norilsk and Vyksa.
In photographing these industrial cities the visual artists featured in the exhibition have chosen to position their works between utopia and the social, political, economic and technological reality.
