Guests from BBC at Soviet Dacha
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a British public service broadcaster placed in London. The BBC is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation and the largest broadcaster in the world.
They decided to make a documentary film about the life of Muscovites and how we rest at the weekend. They came to see Dacha. We had an interesting time and learned a lot new about our countries. The result of their visit you can find in the article on our website.

Russian tea is not food, it's a tradition!
After the tour we invite tourists to the samovar and together we make a traditional Russian Ivan-tea. We drink tea with homemade cakes and jam made from the collected at Dacha berries. We share the recipes of our grandmothers, eat pancakes and talk a lot.

Secret of Dunno
Do you know who is Dunno, Mursilka, Dude or Paru-chan? We didn’t know, but now can tell you about them.
Recently shop SovietDacha received a request for a book of Russian author Nikolay Nosov "Dunno adventures" published in Soviet era with illustrations by Alexei Laptev.
We found this book and shipped it to Japan. The buyer of the book, and now the friend of our shop told us the story that formed the basis of this article for you.
So, he was so kind and wrote us these words:
"There used to be a very poplar Russian cake company in Japan. The name was Parnasse and Mr. Kokado, the president of the company is from my city (Kasai City) and studied about Russian cakes in your country. Unfortunately the compay was closed in 2002, but the CM was on air enthusuastically among the western Japan until 1980s. Japanese people in the area (over forty years old) never forget the CM in our heart. The company's character was Paru-chan and the boy vividly reminds us of our 1970-1980 era. When we studied the history of the character, we recognized the boy is completely similar to the Laptev's illustration of the book. We found the photo of the book among Mr. Kokado's collections which were contributed to our city. Then, I happened to arrive at you! How lucky we are! He passed away 13 years ago, but we are eager to meet the original of Paru-chan in your book."
Russian Dunno was so popular in Japan and we didn’t know anything about it! There were toys, cards and a lot of promotion matireals with him!
We found out a lot of information, the whole story you can resd here: http://visitrussdacha.com/news-and-events/secret-dunno/

Russian porcelain
Porcelain production in Russia has a long history. The first Russian porcelain factory was opened in St. Petersburg in 1744. Initially it was called "Nevsky porcelain manufactory", 1765 — Imperial porcelain factory, from 1917 — the State porcelain factory. In 1925, the factory in connection with the 200th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences was named M. V. Lomonosov; the company received the official name — the Leningrad porcelain factory named after M. V. Lomonosov, along with which had the use of the short form — the Lomonosov porcelain factory (LFZ acronym stigma was perceived and as the Leningrad porcelain factory) until 2005. On 29 May 2005, the stockholders of Lomonosov Porcelain Factory passed a resolution to return to their pre-Soviet name, the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory.
There are several types of hallmarks LFZ porcelain factory. For example, the stigma of the plant of the Russian Empire and the stigma of the Soviet era. Red stamp was put on production of first class, the inscription "Made in USSR" was intended for export. Also they used blue or green colors.
We have sets of tea cups and saucers from Lomonosov porcelain factory. These tea sets were purchased in the late 70s of the last century. My mother loves cobalt blue porcelain. We have Cobalt the blue porcelain items from different manufacturers at Dacha house. But we don't use it. So with permission from mom, we decided to offer this porcelain collection at SovietDacha shop.

Some time ago a guest from Holland has become a very popular meme in Russian Internet. His Russian name is "Zhdun". There is no such word in our dictionary, it is derived from the verb "zhdat" in English he could be named "Expecter" as a derivative from the verb "to expect". Soviet Dacha loves the unusual guests, so we were glad to invite him for a visit.
He's so great that we could not stop and did more and more pictures with him in the lead role. Together with our French guests, in the background of portraits of Lenin and even with our old Soviet toys!
Now we know that his real name is Homunculus Loxodontus and he was created by Margriet van Breevoort in 2016. This lovely creation is a cross between the larvae of an insect and an elephant with a short trunk. It was created for the Dutch Leiden University. The author has dedicated her work to waiting patients. Margariet van Breevoort made a companion for expecting for patients.
Now Homunculus Loxodontus received national recognition in all social networks of Russia as a nice and kind meme.
We love you! Come visit for real!
