Today marks 204 years since the birth of Karl Marx, the founder of scientific socialism. Marx's many achievements and innovations in the fields of philosophy, economics and the study of history were seismic. His revolutionary method - that of dialectical materialism - remains the most advanced set of ideas that humanity has produced.
Marx's theoretical contributions provided for the first time a conscious expression of the interests of the proletariat, the only true revolutionary class in modern society. As the crisis of capitalism deepens each day, and workers and youth search desperately for a solution, Marx's ideas have never been more relevant.
But, as Marx explained, the point isn't only to understand the world, but to change it. And Marx aimed to do just that. He was incredibly active in the revolutionary movement of his day, playing a leading role in the International Working Men's Association.
We owe a great debt to this giant of socialism - one which we can repay only be redoubling our efforts to overthrowing this ailing system, and freeing humanity from the barbarism of class society. We urge you to join us in that struggle today!
