Eufonia Festival | ON THE ROAD

În perioada 11–18 septembrie, Festivalul Eufonia pornește din nou la drum, ducând muzica de cameră mai aproape de comunitățile din Timișoara și din regiune, dincolo de spațiul tradițional al sălii de concert.

Suntem încântați să cântăm în centre medicale și de recuperare, unde muzica poate aduce momente de alinare și apropiere umană, dar și în școli, unde copiii au ocazia de a descoperi nemijlocit experiența muzicii live. Această dublă misiune, socială și educativă, se află în centrul secțiunii On the Road.

Vlad Popescu, Kaori Yamagami și Florian Peelman vor interpreta un program cu lucrări de **Alyssa Weinberg, Ludwig van Beethoven, György Kurtág și Ernő Dohnányi**.

VLAD POPESCU – vioară

Violonist, profesor și cofondator al Festivalului Eufonia, Vlad Popescu este directorul artistic al festivalului din 2018. A studiat în România, Austria și Germania și este membru fondator al Cvartetului Furiant, alături de care a susținut concerte pe mai multe continente. A evoluat ca solist alături de orchestre din România, Austria și Germania și colaborează frecvent cu ansambluri europene în calitate de concertmaestru și șef de partidă. Din 2021, predă vioară și muzică de cameră la Facultatea de Muzică și Teatru din Timișoara.

KAORI YAMAGAMI – violoncel

Kaori Yamagami a fost admisă la Curtis Institute of Music la vârsta de 13 ani, devenind una dintre ultimele studente ale lui Mstislav Rostropovich. Este laureată a Concursului Internațional „Rostropovich” și a Concursului Internațional „Ceaikovski”. Până în 2025, a ocupat poziția de prim-violoncelistă a Sydney Symphony Orchestra, după nouă ani ca șefă a partidei de violoncel în Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Colaborează constant cu ansambluri europene importante și este membră a orchestrei Utopia, fondată de Teodor Currentzis.

FLORIAN PEELMAN – violă

Violistul belgiano-australian Florian Peelman a studiat la Hanns Eisler School of Music din Berlin, unde este în prezent profesor de violă. A ocupat poziții de prim-violist în Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Hamburg State Opera și Mahler Chamber Orchestra și este invitat frecvent în aceeași calitate de importante orchestre europene. Membru fondator al Boccherini Trio, desfășoară o activitate susținută ca muzician de cameră, solist și profesor.

Festivalului Eufonia | Colours of Sound. Making the Invisible Visible

De la concertele susținute de tineri muzicieni până la evenimente care reunesc artiști de talie internațională, ediția a IX-a a Festivalului Eufonia propune, între 7 și 27 septembrie 2026, un program construit în jurul formării, performanței și apropierii de comunitate.

Cele trei secțiuni ale festivalului – Masterclass, On the Road și Brass Academy – creează contexte în care experiența artiștilor consacrați se întâlnește cu energia noii generații, iar cursurile de măiestrie își găsesc continuarea firească pe scenă.

O atenție aparte o acordăm publicului pentru care accesul la evenimente culturale este adesea limitat. Prin concertele sociale și educative din cadrul On the Road, muzica ajunge în centre medicale și de recuperare, în școli și în comunități din afara spațiilor convenționale de concert.

G E R A R D C O S T E S - trombone

Born in Amposta, Spain, in 1980, Gerard Costes began studying music at ten at La Lira Ampostina. He later studied at the High School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC) with Ricardo Casero and studied baroque trombone with Daniel Lassalle.

In 2004, he received a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with Lindsay Shilling, Byron Fulcher and Graham Lee, graduating with the highest distinctions. In 2006, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hannover with Jonas Bylund. He also attended masterclasses with Denis Wick, Christian Lindberg, Joseph Alessi and Jörgen van Rijen.

A member of the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia from 1998 to 2002, he won the Joventuts Musicals Ciutat de Vinaròs International Competition in 1999, the Herbert Samuel Memorial Competition at the RCM in 2006 and the Sitges International Chamber Music Competition in 2009.

He has collaborated with ensembles including Utopia Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatro del Liceu, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, Orquesta Nacional de España, Spiramirabilis Orchestra, MusicAeterna Brass Ensemble and London Brass, working with Teodor Currentzis, Bernard Haitink, Neville Marriner, Eiji Oue, Jordi Savall and John Cale, among others.

His festival appearances include the Salzburger Festspiele, BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival, Festival de Peralada, Festival Grec in Barcelona and Primavera Sound. As a soloist, he has performed in Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, England and Russia.

In 2013, he recorded Hindemith’s Sonata for trombone and piano with Alexander Melnikov for Harmonia Mundi’s album “Sonatas for…”. In 2017, Christian Lindberg selected him as an active participant in the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Meisterkurse.

Costes has given masterclasses at institutions including the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona and the Russian National Youth Orchestra. Since 2012, he has been principal trombone of the MusicAeterna Orchestra under Teodor Currentzis.

Award-winning International Trumpet Soloist

Unanimously 1st Prize at the ITG-Ellsworth-Smith Competition (USA/Germany), a Grand Prix at the Maurice André Competition (Paris), a winner of the International Trumpet Competition in Toulon (France), Andrei Kavalinski is today according to the critics one of the best trumpetplayers in the world. Currently principal trumpet of the Orchestre National de France, he has held the same position at the Brussels Philharmonic. He graduated in Germany unanimously with the highestpossible marks and congratulations of the jury at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. 2022 his recording of Shostakovich Concertos on Linn Records with pianist Simon Trpčeski and the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra received worldwide acclaim and became a finalist at the ICMA International Classical Music Awards.

As a Breslmair Artist and Schagerl Artist Andrei Kavalinski works actively on the creation of new mouthpieces and trumpet models. 2023 new Breslmair mouthpiece model «Andrei Kavalinski» appeared, which is already in great demand all over the world and has received lots of positive reviews. A new Schagerl C-trumpet model «Andrei Kavalinski» appeared in 2024. Today, this model is used in many leading orchestras in the USA, Europe and Asia. As a teacher, Andrei Kavalinski gives numerous masterclasses worldwide and is called upon to participate in and chair juries at numerous international competitions such as the International Maurice André Trumpet Competition in Paris and the ARD Competition in Munich.

2026 Andrei Kavalinski took part as a soloist and chamber musician at the Reinhold Friedrich Farewell Festival in Weikersheim/Karlsruhe, Germany.

Andrei Kavalinski received the Karlheinz-Stockhausen-Prize, Timofei-Dokshizer-Prize and Richard-Wagner-Prize among others.

I O N U Ț P O D G O R E A N U - horn

Meet Ionuț Podgoreanu, the first of three distinguished artists and teachers who will lead masterclasses at the Brass Academy in Timișoara, from 7 to 13 September.

Ionuț Podgoreanu is one of Romania’s most highly regarded horn players, internationally recognized for his work as a performer and educator. He began studying the horn in Ploiești under Liviu Săvuță, then continued his training at the National University of Music Bucharest with Nicolae Lipoczi and at Mozarteum University Salzburg with Hansjörg Angerer.

From 2002 to 2005, he was principal horn of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, working with conductors including Pierre Boulez, Claudio Abbado and Iván Fischer. Since 2006, he has served as principal horn of the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and since 2014, he has taught at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned ensembles including the Berlin Philharmonic, Teatro alla Scala, Munich Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, musicAeterna and the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, under conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, Teodor Currentzis, Simone Young, Cristian Măcelaru, Fabio Luisi and Myung-Whun Chung, among others.

He is also a member of the Romanian Chamber Orchestra, founder of the Mioritique ensemble and principal conductor of the Simfonics Orchestral Academy in Barcelona.

A first-prize winner at prestigious international competitions, Ionuț Podgoreanu continues to inspire through his artistic excellence and dedication to teaching.

From 2024 to 2026, he was Artist-in-Residence with the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra in Timișoara, contributing through solo appearances and artistic collaborations of the highest calibre.

A N G E L I C A P O S T U - mental training

Dr Angelica Postu is a psychologist, pianist and music therapist whose clinical, educational and research work spans international settings. She develops and implements projects at the intersection of culture, music and health, promoting music as a resource for well-being, prevention and mental health. Her work focuses particularly on the health of professional artists, long-term self-care and sustainable practices that support both artistic performance and emotional balance.

She is an Associate Lecturer at the National University of Music Bucharest and the Berlin University of the Arts, where she teaches courses on musicians’ emotional health and music therapy. She is the founder and President of the Romanian Music Therapy Association, a board member of the European Music Therapy Confederation and its Regional Coordinator for Southern Europe, as well as a Consulting Editor for the international journal Approaches. She holds a doctorate from the Berlin University of the Arts and master’s degrees in psychology, music therapy and piano performance.

For more than a decade, Dr Postu has trained and mentored musicians, artists and professionals working in health and culture, helping them develop skills in self-reflection, self-regulation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her research and the projects she coordinates explore the contribution of music and music therapy to individual and collective health.

She is regularly invited as a lecturer and workshop facilitator by international conferences and institutions across Europe and beyond. Her most recent engagements include the Manhattan School of Music in New York and the Cayman Arts Festival.

A N D R E I G O L O G A N - piano

Pianist Andrei Gologan is distinguished by the refinement and vitality of his interpretations and his unique palette of sound. Described as “a poet of the piano” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) with a “brilliant technique” (General-Anzeiger Bonn), he appears at major European festivals.

He has collaborated with Camerata Salzburg, the KALA Chamber Orchestra, Kyiv Philharmonic, the Sándor Végh Chamber Orchestra and leading Romanian ensembles, including the George Enescu, Transylvania, Sibiu and Banatul philharmonic orchestras.

Invited by Sir András Schiff to join the Building Bridges programme, Gologan gave debut recitals at the Konzerthaus Berlin, deSingel Antwerp and Beethoven-Haus Bonn. He has also appeared at the George Enescu International Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Heidelberger Frühling and Mozartwoche Salzburg, as well as at Wigmore Hall, Munich’s Herkulessaal and, at Daniel Barenboim’s invitation, Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal.

A passionate chamber musician, he has performed at Lockenhaus, Verbier, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, SoNoRo and Schwetzingen SWR Festival. In 2023, he founded the Buzz Chamber Music Festival in Obertrum, Austria, which he leads as Artistic Director. Since 2024, he has taught chamber music at the University of Music Freiburg.

Born in Piatra-Neamț, Gologan began playing the piano at five and won his first competition six months later. He trained with Iulian Arcadi Trofin, Pavel Gililov and Claudio Martínez-Mehner at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Music and Dance Cologne. Daniel Barenboim, Sir András Schiff, Ferenc Rados and Richard Goode profoundly shaped his artistic outlook. He is a prizewinner of the Vladimir Horowitz International Competition in Kyiv, Piano Campus in Paris and the Sigismund Thalberg Competition in Naples.

In autumn 2025, Evidence Classics released his debut album, devoted to Brahms and created in collaboration with Deutschlandfunk Kultur and C. Bechstein.

B E N C E B O G Á N Y I - bassoon

Born into a Hungarian family of musicians, Bence Bogányi began playing the bassoon at the age of nine and later studied in Finland, Sweden and Germany.

In 1997, he won First Prize at the International Crusell Competition in Finland. Further distinctions followed, including First Prize at the Fernand Gillet–Hugo Fox International Competition in Indianapolis and Second Prize, together with the Audience Prize, at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich with Quintet Chantily.

Bogányi was appointed principal bassoonist of the Helsinki State Opera in 1997 and later held the same position with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2004, he joined the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, before serving as principal bassoonist of the Munich Philharmonic from 2007 to 2013.

As a chamber musician and soloist, he has performed throughout Europe and Asia. He also regularly appears as guest principal bassoonist with renowned ensembles including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Bavarian State Opera and Budapest Festival Orchestra. His discography includes numerous CD and radio recordings.

Contemporary music has played an important role throughout his career. Bogányi seeks close artistic dialogue with composers and has given several premieres, including the 2005 world premiere of Kalevi Aho’s Bassoon Concerto, written for him and performed with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.

From 2009 to 2013, he taught as Professor of Bassoon at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg. In 2013, he was appointed Professor of Bassoon at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.

T O M M A S O L O N Q U I C H - clarinet
Musician, psychoanalyst and educator, Tommaso Lonquich is acclaimed by reviewers as a “formidable clarinetist” and praised for his “passion, sumptuous tone, magical finesse and dazzling virtuosity”. He is an Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York and served as solo clarinetist with Denmark-based Ensemble MidtVest for thirteen years.

He has appeared on stages across five continents, performing with Christian Tetzlaff, Ilya Gringolts, Pekka Kuusisto, Carolin Widmann, Stella Chen, Nicolas Altstaedt, David Finckel, Nicolas Dautricourt, Maximilian Hornung, Anneleen Lenaerts, Radovan Vlatković, Trio Boccherini and the Danish, Van Kuijk, Zaïde and Vertavo string quartets.

As a soloist or guest principal with several orchestras, he has collaborated with conductors including Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Fabio Luisi, Enrico Onofri, Adam Fischer and Leonard Slatkin. His twenty-five albums have garnered nominations for a Gramophone Award and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.

In Denmark, Tommaso Lonquich is founder and Artistic Director of Schackenborg Musikfest, one of Scandinavia’s most prestigious festivals. Previously, he founded and directed KantorAtelier, a vibrant cultural space in Florence.

A devoted mentor, he served as Head of Chamber Music at the Dædalus Advanced Studies Program in Florence, an institution he co-founded. He has given masterclasses at the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music and the Royal Danish Academy of Music. His lecture series “The Listening Voice” has been presented at conservatories throughout Europe.

Alongside his artistic career, Tommaso Lonquich is a practicing psychoanalyst and co-founder of the International Center for Lacanian Psychoanalysis in Ljubljana. He lectures on the theory and clinical practice of Lacanian psychoanalysis and serves on the Scientific Committee at OMANUT in Rome and the Bureau of the Associate Group of the New Lacanian School in Vienna.

C L A I R E B A G O T - oboe
French oboist Claire Bagot began her musical training at the Strasbourg Conservatory with Sébastien Giot. At the age of 18, she moved to Paris to study with Jean-Claude Jaboulay before being accepted into the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. She spent the next five years studying with Jacques Tys, David Walter and Frédéric Tardy, graduating with honors and earning a Master’s degree in 2015. Ms. Bagot also spent one year as an exchange student at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, studying with Dominik Wollenweber.

A passionate orchestral player, she first gained experience with the French National Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Orchestra, touring throughout Europe and collaborating with conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Jonathan Nott, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Harding and Esa-Pekka Salonen. She was soon invited to perform with orchestras in France, including the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de Toulouse and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg.

During the 2016–2017 season, she held the position of co-principal oboe of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. This experience marked the beginning of an international career, leading to collaborations with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Utopia and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.

She has been principal oboe of the Orchestre National de Lille since 2019.
