Last april was not an easy month to carry. Yet,roaming around the streets of Lecce, in Puglia , I came across the Accademia and I had a moment of gratitudine. Graittude towards everyone who suported me in my artistic journey since my early years as a child and afterwards as a teenager. Without them I wouldn’t be who I am now. As always, great epiphanies come under the southern italian sun, which makes everything shine brighter.☀️

Bacchus. As the Roman god of wine and revelry, Bacchus symbolized both chaos and fertility, famously rescuing Ariadne. With titles like Dendrites and Anthios, he embodied nature’s cycles, overseeing wine, milk, and honey. His worship offered women liberation, a theme explored in Annette Giesecke’s studies. This artwork blends baroque elegance with modern techniques on stone paper, previewing a series to unfold next year.

"Old man gazing into the blue"

With old age, all they have left are the memories.

The pastel, this unruly and crumbly technique has its undeniable, volatile charm, somehwere in between drawing and painting.
Stroke by stroke, gradually building the layers of this old man's portrait, who initally was just a timid sepia èbauche in an old sketchbook, it turned out to be basking in the ultramarine dust.

Gesture watercolour painting is quite a new discovery for me.
It quickly became a go-to whenever I want to ease my mind and spirit from the heavy academic, rigorous drawing or the time-consuming-tricky-sassy oil painting.
So I see these small sketches like breaths of fresh air, a cute moment of joie de vivre in ink and watercolour and what-knows nib drawing.
