Last night at the acting studio, we learned that if you want to create a character, you have to step outside yourself and think and act from the character’s point of view. Leave your ego in a safe place you don’t need it on stage.

Stop asking, “What would I do?” Ask instead:
“What does this character want? What do they fear? How do they see the world?”

That’s where the character begins.

Are you tired of talking about acting? Have you actually trained to become a professional actor?

What does it really mean to be a professional actor?

It means being prepared. Not just knowing your lines, but arriving on time, respecting your team, and understanding that acting is a collaborative craft.

A professional actor trains the instrument: the body, the voice, the imagination, the emotions, and, above all, awareness.

Without training your awareness, your habits and limitations remain. Rust builds up. The performance stays on the surface.

We can see when you’re acting.

True acting begins when you stop pretending and start living truthfully under imaginary circumstances.

Acting is where you are real.
