Oana Nastasache

(1991, b. in Galați, lives and works in Cluj-Napoca). In 2013 she graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, painting department, in 2015 she graduated the master's degree, painting department and since 2017 she is undergoing a PhD student at the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca.

In her painting she explores existence and gives freedom and power to his own spirit. Her working technique in acrylic allows to obtain specific transparencies and gradients which, by quickly drying the colour, accentuate the instantaneous character.

In her few paintings, this is symbolically representing the framing of the work in a frame similar to that of Polaroid photographs.

Mathis Bar is an extremely talented young artist from Cluj, Romania, preoccupied by multiple domaines of expression: painting, graphics, installation - all underlining the human figure and its identity search.
The paintings presented within our residency competition are funny, ludic, or even ironic descriptions of the iconic concept resulting from or either evolution or maybe involution as human beings ? Thus, we may be referring to contemporary rappers or renaissance angels, we always contextualize accordingly to our time values…
Finally, the images bare different value according to our historical, social context and Mathias’s Bar artworks are meat to pull the spectators out of their comfort zone and produce a specific atmosphere effect.☺️🎉🥂

Botond Gagyi

b. 1992 in Târgu-Mureș, lives and works in Cluj, Romania

The body became the expression of physical and emotional human experience. In this way, my paintings are not about a false representation of reality, but rather the concealing of the notion that reality is no longer real. At the same time it is important to keep in mind that these illusionary worlds have their bases in reality, seem inexhaustibly rich, but in fact they represent a world lacking space and dimensions. By the making of the Mo(nu)ment for the Future, my recent series, I try to aim for the problematization of this particular abstraction. In this way, the oil paintings figures, which are taken out their context, by the fact that they are just seemingly together, refer exactly to these artificial relationships and their abstract nature. The frequent loose gesture maybe comprises in itself the pulsing life’s illusion, while we see that we are just simulacrum witnesses of life. This is the story that I try to compress into every one of my paintings: the excitement of life. The experience is born between the omissions, repainting, erasures and piling up of paint.
