At music events, bodies gather in a state of temporary intensity. They move through darkness, repetition, proximity, and sound. Individual boundaries loosen as the crowd begins to behave like a shifting, responsive organism.
Using thermal imaging, I photograph these spaces through a different form of visibility. Faces, clothing, and familiar social codes become less reliable. Gestures and silhouettes remain, but bodies are translated into fields of heat.
This creates an unresolved ambiguity. Thermal imaging appears to reveal something intimate and bodily, while translating the body into a shifting field of heat. The camera moves the body into another register of visibility. Its language moves between portraiture and surveillance, abstraction and closeness.
The images do not suggest that individual differences disappear. Instead, they hold a brief moment in which separate bodies begin to form something larger: a shared field of movement and warmth, gathering and dissolving again.
