A work by , Lacul Morii (2010), is currently on view in "The Picture. Explaining Photography in 39 Works" exhibition at Scânteia+.

Part of a key moment in the artist’s practice, this work reflects a shift toward large-format photography, a technique he began exploring in 2007. Working with a 4x5 camera for over a decade, he became one of the first artists of his generation to approach landscape through this detail-oriented process. The transition marked a defining stage in his photographic language, moving more towards precision and contemplation.

The exhibition, initiated by Horațiu Lipot and Dani Ghercă, brings together 39 artists and 39 works, mapping the evolution of Romanian photography from the early 1990s to today. Structured around six perspectives, it offers a layered view into how images are constructed, read, and understood.

On view at .

The exhibition remains open until September 5 and can be visited Thursday–Saturday, 14:00–18:00.

We are happy to announce the representation of artist Lari Rafaila (.rafaila).

An emerging artist, Rafaila, creates figurative paintings defined by chromatic tension. He constructs dreamlike worlds through intense, saturated gradients that feel both surreal and deeply connected to the everyday.

Rather than building clear narratives, Rafaila’s work investigates the "atmosphere of an encounter." His figures function as vessels for shared human experiences, caught in unspoken truths and consuming interior states. By obscuring individual identity, he invites us to reconsider consciousness and the sense of self, the projection, solitude, and connection that define our hidden inner lives.

The artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery will open in Bucharest in October 2026.

Today is your last chance to see CHIMERA by .

We are open from 2 PM to 8 PM, looking forward to welcoming you for the last day of the show.

The exhibition was an important starting point for discussing the current state of the world, divided by confusion and chimeras. Thank you for visiting, joining the events and engaging with us in this important dialogue.

As the curator stated, in a world that is in constant update, we need miracles, and miracles only exist if we believe in them.

Less than two weeks left to see CHIMERA by .

As the curator of the exhibition emphasizes, Gamarț presents scenes that seem to emerge from a feverish state, from the recesses of the subconscious, forming dark yet illuminated landscapes — almost underwater atmospheres — where the human figure appears and disappears in various shapes and poses, almost always as the protagonist.

Tomorrow, we will be joined by philosopher and lecturer at the University of Bucharest, Oana Șerban, to discuss the broader topics of the exhibition and how it relates to the current state of the world. The talk will have in focus two of the works you can see in the show: Youth and Chimera.

If you want to learn more about the universe of the artist, join us from 7PM at the new space in Amzei.

As we continue with CHIMERA, AIEVEA, our art debate series returns with a conversation that moves between painting, philosophy, and the political conditions of the present.

Join us this Friday, the 17th of April from 7PM in Piata Amzei for the third edition of AIEVEA when we welcome Oana Șerban, philosopher and lecturer at the University of Bucharest, whose work sits at the intersection of aesthetics and political theory.

Together, we will explore the questions 's paintings refuse to leave unanswered.
