Looking back on RAD 2026, the Pavilion remains one of the spaces that most vividly captured the spirit of this year’s edition.

The Pavilion, designed by .international and featuring an inflatable structure developed by .inflatables, offered a space dedicated to performance, experimentation, and exchange.

Among the performances presented in the Pavilion was Escapism III: Odiseea, created by . Conceived as an immersive sonic pilgrimage, the work invited audiences into a journey across seven symbolic islands inspired by Greece, where sound became both landscape and guide. The performance proposed a space for introspection, memory, and personal transformation, asking participants to close their eyes in order to see differently.

Concursus, created by explored a radically different territory. Refusing narrative, explanation, or resolution, the performance remained suspended in a state of coexistence where gestures, presences, and absences occupied the same space without seeking connection. Working with unpredictability and openness, the piece invited audiences to sit with uncertainty and consider what emerges when meaning is allowed to remain unresolved.

In The Choreography of Water, produced by , the artists brought together choreography, sound, and sculptural systems in a fluid meditation on water as both material and political force. Set within a landscape of transparent structures circulating streams of water, the performance traced connections between the body and larger planetary systems, proposing a poetic reflection on movement, interdependence, and ecological transformation.

Happy Children’s Day! 🎈

This 1 June, we’re celebrating the youngest members of our community and the sense of wonder they bring with them.

The RAD Kids filled this year’s fair with imagination, creativity, and joyful experimentation, offering a glimpse into the many ways art can inspire curiosity from an early age.

A gentle reminder, today and every day, not to lose our sense of play.

We’re pleased to present “Step” (2026) by Ovidiu Toader, one of the two works selected for this year’s Banca Transilvania Prize at the 4th edition of RAD Art Fair.

Expanded to two recipients in 2026, the BT Prize reflects Banca Transilvania’s commitment to supporting a broader range of artistic practices and perspectives within the contemporary art scene.

In “Step”, Toader transforms industrial material into a seemingly weightless form poised between movement and stillness. Balancing delicately on a stone base, the sculpture explores tension, vulnerability, and transformation, inviting reflection on the relationship between stability and change.

We’re pleased to present “Meanwhile, Mother Nature Indifferently Bathed Them with Her Unifying Downpour” (2024) by Megan Dominescu, one of the two recipients of this year’s Banca Transilvania Prize at the 4th edition of RAD Art Fair.

Awarded by Banca Transilvania, the prize supports and promotes contemporary artistic practices, recognizing works that engage with the complexities of the present through compelling visual languages and distinctive artistic perspectives.

Through her characteristic use of textile techniques and vibrant imagery, Dominescu constructs a scene where humor and unease coexist. The work reflects on collective experience, social dynamics, and the fragile systems that shape contemporary life, all observed under the impartial gaze of nature.

Director’s cut of RAD Art Fair coverage for Ocula Magazine, published May 22, 2026

The following is my director’s cut version of a recently published piece for Ocula Magazine, it includes deleted scenes, making of and off screen action complete with un-fact-checked takes and rabbit-holes. Thank you the generous artists and curators I met in Romania that warmly invited me into their fascinating and vibrant arts community. Thank you Ocula Mag for spotlighting the Politics of the Romanian Art Scene.

From live moments unfolding at our own stage to performances activated within gallery stands, this year’s RAD Art Fair became a space where art was experienced. Raw, immediate, alive.

We’re deeply grateful to all the artists and galleries who brought these performances into being, for their trust, energy, and boldness in sharing work that lives in the moment and lingers far beyond it.

Thank you for shaping this edition into something truly dynamic. We’re honoured to hold space for it all.

THE 4th EDITION of RAD Art Fair

What a ride!

Radical Love. Radical Creativity. Radical Domesticity. Radical Thoughts. Radical 2026.

We are so deeply thankful for this community. Without your energy, your focus, your thoughts and ideas, and let’s not forget, your dancing shoes, we would not be basking in this afterglow.

The 4th Edition of RAD brought many elements of growth. It marked our biggest audience yet, touching 10,000 visitors. Our largest and most diverse Curatorial Summit brought 34 curators from 23 countries to Bucharest for an intense 5-day program. Romania’s top collectors were joined by 60+ international collectors who spent their days at the fair, while also experiencing the city, visiting gallery exhibitions, and partaking in the diverse offerings of our most expansive Collateral Events program yet, built by private collections, new foundations, and institutions. RAD’s 31 galleries—a 10% growth from last year—realized €900,000+ in sales.

In a time when the world is in upheaval and the global art market is felling insecure, these numbers reflect a growing local scene, at-home support and patronage for the arts, and RAD becoming a fresh platform bourgeoning in scale, depth, and relevance.

Thank you to and Elisabetta Pagella for featuring RAD Art Fair and for such a thoughtful look into Bucharest’s growing contemporary art scene.

We’re grateful for the attention given not only to the fair itself, but also to the wider ecosystem of artists, galleries, curators, and initiatives shaping the city today. Seeing these conversations resonate beyond borders means a great deal to us.
