day 26 Old Post Office Jalan Panggong

It was built in 1911 by the Federated Malay States Postal Authority established by the British to serve the centre of Kuala Lumpur. It was used as a sub-post office with the main post office being at Merdeka Square.

The style is mock-Tudor like the Royal Selangor Club on Merdeka Square but with and attractive Malay style veranda. The upper floor is made entirely of wood.

Apparently the postmaster would raise a red flag over the building to announce the arrival of overseas post and residents nearby would then head to the post office to collect their mail.
