VISTA VISIONS VII 🧿 by Ramzi Mallat
Ramzi Mallat, a Lebanese multidisciplinary artist of remarkable sensitivity, constructs a compelling dialogue between cultural heritage, personal identity, and sociopolitical critique.
His practice is deeply rooted in the complexities of a globalised world, drawing richly from Levantine theological and folkloric traditions to subvert and reimagine conventional heritage narratives.
Mallat’s oeuvre frequently interrogates the entangled relationships between capitalism, labour, and the rituals of everyday life, offering a poignant meditation on the mechanisms by which meaning is manufactured and manipulated within contemporary society.
Through his work, he mounts a subtle yet potent resistance against displacement and the erasure of marginalised histories.
In Vista Visions, Mallat deftly examines the enduring tension between belief and doubt, recontextualising potent symbols, such as the evil eye, within modern frameworks.
Here, myth, faith, and storytelling converge, inviting viewers to contemplate the fragile, often contradictory nature of human attempts to seek meaning through tradition.
A graduate of Lancaster University (BA in Fine Art) and the Royal College of Art in London (MA in Sculpture), Mallat’s artistic trajectory has garnered significant acclaim.
In 2022, he was named to Forbes Middle East’s “30 Under 30” list & serves as a trustee for the IMOS Foundation in the UK
