For Abdulla Al Muftah, understanding where we come from gives meaning to where we are going.

يؤمن عبد الله المفتاح بأن فهمنا لماضينا يظل حاضراً في نظرتنا إلى المستقبل.

His connection to art and heritage comes from recognising how deeply both are tied to Qatar’s identity, reflected in the places we preserve, the historic buildings we restore and the continued investment in art and culture.

وتكشف علاقته بالفن والتراث عن مدى حضورهما في هوية قطر، في الأماكن التي نحافظ عليها، والمباني التراثية التي نعيد إليها الحياة، وفي الاهتمام المستمر بالفن والثقافة وما يضيفانه إلى حاضرنا.

For Abdulla, keeping that connection strong begins early. Introducing children to art and culture from their earliest years gives the next generation a stronger foundation to understand their heritage and shape Qatar’s creative future.

We’re continuing the season through the lens of photography📸

Frame & Focus brings together 12 photographers and visual storytellers, each using photography to explore experiences tied to family, identity, memory, heritage, belonging and the places that have shaped them.

Each project approaches those themes in its own way, shaped by the artist’s perspective and experience, and together they show just how many stories photography can hold.

Created in collaboration with Tasweer, the VII Foundation, Qatar Preparatory School and Qatar Museums.

نواصل الموسم بحكايات تُروى بعدسة المصورين. 📸

يجمع «إبداع وإتقان الصورة» 12 مصوراً وراوياً بصرياً، يحمل كلٌ منهم تجربة خاصة تنطلق من الذاكرة والعائلة والهوية والإرث والانتماء والأماكن التي شكّلت نظرته إلى العالم.

ويقدّم كل مشروع هذه التجارب بطريقته، بحسب رؤية الفنان وأسلوبه في التعبير، لتجتمع في معرض واحد يحمل قصصاً متعددة ووجهات نظر مختلفة.

أُقيم المعرض بالتعاون بين تصوير، ومؤسسة VII، ومدرسة قطر الإعدادية، ومتاحف قطر.

Kicking off this year’s Fall–Winter season with two perspectives on Uzbekistan, through the traditions that have shaped it across generations, and through the eyes of local artists who experienced it for themselves. ✨🇺🇿

Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion, organised in partnership with Uzbekistan Art&Culture Development Foundation and supported by , brings the country’s heritage to life through craft, architecture and tradition, while Ektashif: Uzbekistan, organised in collaboration with وزارة الخارجية - دولة قطر, shifts the perspective, showing how those same places and influences were seen and reinterpreted by Qatari artists.

‎نفتتح موسم خريف–شتاء هذا العام بمعرضين يكشفان جانبين مختلفين من أوزبكستان: إرثها الممتد عبر الأجيال، وتجارب فنانين قطريين عاشوا مدنها وتفاصيلها بأنفسهم. ✨🇺🇿

‎يُقام «أوزبكستان: إرثٌ مستمر» بالشراكة مع مؤسسة أوزبكستان لتنمية الفن والثقافة وبدعم من Visit Qatar، ويقرّبنا من ملامح التراث الأوزبكي من خلال الحِرف والعمارة والتقاليد، بينما يُقام «اكتشف أوزبكستان» بالتعاون مع وزارة الخارجية، ويقدّم أعمالاً عبّر فيها فنانون قطريون بطريقتهم عن الأماكن والمشاهد التي رافقت رحلتهم في أوزبكستان.

For Bouthayna Al Muftah, creativity begins with paying closer attention to what has always been around us.

بالنسبة لبثينة المفتاح، يبدأ الإبداع حين نتأمل ما اعتدنا رؤيته، ونمنحه فرصة ليكشف لنا معنى جديداً.

As a Qatari artist, having the opportunity to study and develop her practice while surrounded by the environment she grew up in gave the familiar a new meaning. Her studies became a turning point, encouraging her to notice details she had once overlooked and find creative possibility in the culture and visual language around her.

كفنانة قطرية، نشأت بثينة وسط بيئة مألوفة لها، وغيرت سنوات الدراسة علاقتها بما يحيط بها، فبدأت تنظر بعين مختلفة إلى التفاصيل اليومية، وما تحمله من ذكريات، والثقافة التي نشأت فيها، لتستمد منها ملامح لغتها الخاصة في الفن.

For Bouthayna, there is a future in creativity when we stay open to that process: looking closer, remaining curious and, most importantly, enjoying the journey along the way. Her own path has grown alongside a Qatar that continues to make more room for artists to study, create and shape how the country’s stories are carried forward.

وترى بثينة أن مستقبل الإبداع لا يكمن فقط في النتيجة التي نصل إليها، بل في الرحلة نفسها؛ في أن نتعلّم كيف نرى، ونلاحظ، ونواصل طرح الأسئلة. وهي رحلة تزامنت مع تحوّل المشهد الثقافي في قطر، واتساع الفرص أمام جيل من الفنانين ليجدوا أصواتهم، ويعبّروا عن محيطهم بطريقتهم، ويكونوا جزءاً من قصة قطر الثقافية المستمرة.

For Saad Al Mohannadi, Qatar Museums’ contribution goes beyond its institutions, shaping how the country’s identity and creativity are seen and, in many ways, turning the nation itself into an open museum.

بالنسبة لسعد المهندي، يتجاوز أثر متاحف قطر حدود مؤسساتها، ليمتد إلى أنحاء الدولة ويجعل من قطر متحفاً مفتوحاً يعكس هويتها وإبداعها.

As a former member of the Qatar Museums Board of Trustees, he has seen public art bring Qatari creativity into everyday spaces, giving local artists and designers a visible role in shaping the country’s cultural story.

وكعضو سابق في مجلس أمناء متاحف قطر، تابع سعد حضور الفن العام في المشهد اليومي، والدور الذي أتاحه للفنانين والمصممين القطريين ليكونوا جزءاً من تشكيل الهوية الثقافية للدولة.

Looking ahead, the next chapter lies in protecting Qatar’s heritage while continuing to evolve it, giving future generations something meaningful to carry forward in a changing world.
