I went on a date with a guy I had a one night stand with like a month ago. I'll admit, my friends already warned me that it was a bad idea. They said I shouldn't go, but I didn't listen to them. I figured it wouldn't hurt to give him a chance, even though it wasn't the smartest move I've made. We met up and I hoped it'd be fine.

The first red flag showed up early. We sat down at the first bar, and we ordered our drinks. That's when things got weird. He ordered chicken tenders for himself, but didn't even ask if I wanted anything to eat. It's just basic manners to ask your date if they're hungry. I couldn't believe he'd just order food for himself while I was sitting right there.

After that, he ended up taking me to a ho**ah lounge. What the hell? It wasn't the vibe I wanted, but I went along with it. We sat there, and that's when the topic of politics came up. I didn't bring it up, but it happened. He told me he didn't want to talk about it, which made things awkward. By this point, I was drunk and getting tired of the date.

Even though he said he didn't want to discuss it, he pretty much told me he voted for Trump without actually saying the name. We're sitting there, and he's going on about things. Then he ended up telling me, ""A woman could never be president."" I'm not going to sit there and listen to that kind of talk. That was the final straw for me.

This is when I decided I'd had enough. I called my friend to come pick me up. I couldn't stay any longer. I told him I was going to the bathroom, and I never came back. I just left him there.

It's been a while, and he hasn't reached out to me at all. I don't feel bad about leaving, but I'm wondering if I should've handled it differently. My friends say I'm fine, but I can't help feeling conflicted. Am I wrong?

My partner and I had been waiting over an hour for our dinner, and I was rapidly approaching that specific, dangerous level of hunger where any minor inconvenience feels like a deliberate personal attack. We had both just survived a grueling Tuesday at our respective jobs. It was the kind of bone-tired evening where the mere thought of turning on the stove or chopping a single vegetable made us want to cry, so we ordered a huge amount of comfort food from DoorDash.

I spent forty-five minutes tracking the order on my phone. I watched the little car icon navigate the crowded streets downtown, stop at red lights, and finally merge onto the avenue leading toward our neighborhood. We were literally watching her car icon creep down our exact street on the live map.

I walked over to the window, expecting to see headlights pull into our driveway. Then the icon didn't stop. It rolled right past our building without even tapping the brakes, continued smoothly to the end of the block, and disappeared around the corner.

A second later, my phone buzzed with an automated notification telling me my food had been successfully delivered. I walked out to the porch anyway, just in case. Empty.

I checked the side door and the front steps. Nothing. She had simply driven close enough to trigger the app's GPS fence, manually marked the delivery as completed, and driven off with our entire dinner.

I was furious. I marched back inside and immediately hit the button in the app to call the driver, figuring maybe she had gotten lost. It rang exactly one time before she sent me straight to voicemail.

She manually declined it. I tried again. Declined again.

She was actively ignoring my calls while cruising away with the food I had just paid for. I got on chat with customer support right away. The representative was actually quite helpful.

They pulled up the GPS data, saw the discrepancy, processed a full refund, and got a priority replacement order started for us. The mature thing to do would have been to just sit back on the couch and wait for the new food to arrive. But unfortunately for this driver, I didn't have anything else on my schedule that evening.

I was still intensely hungry and feeling incredibly petty. The sheer audacity of it—the fact that she thought she could just steal from me and then aggressively hit decline—really set something off in my brain.

I realized something about how the masked phone system works for these gig economy apps. There is a specific window of time after a delivery where the customer and the driver can still contact each other through the proxy number. And as long as there is active communication happening, that proxy connection stays open.

I sat back down on my couch, adjusted my posture, and decided she wasn't going to have a peaceful shift if I had anything to say about it.

I do some weekend babysitting on the side to pad my savings account, and there is one family I absolutely should have cut ties with months ago. I stayed because the kids themselves are wonderful, and honestly, when you don't have another gig lined up, it feels like easy money.

But the mother has a fundamental inability to respect anyone else's time. In the beginning, she would ask me to come over so she could grab a quick ""brunch"" with her friends. She would leave the house at eleven in the morning and wouldn't walk back through the front door until seven at night.

My entire Saturday would be completely gone. She wouldn't text, she wouldn't call to ask if I could stay late, she would just stay out and assume I would handle it because I was already there.

After the third time it happened, I put my foot down. I told her I could no longer work for her unless we agreed on a strict return time before I even walked into her house. I explained I have my own life and cannot just sit in a living room indefinitely.

She agreed, apologizing profusely, and started giving me actual schedules. But a schedule to her was just a vague suggestion. She would still show up hours late, never bothering to give me a heads-up, walking in with a casual apology like my time had zero value.

Which brings us to this past Saturday. I arrived at her place at six in the evening. She had her makeup done, smelling like expensive perfume, and looked me dead in the eye to promise she would be home by nine o'clock sharp.

I had concrete plans that night. A group of friends I hadn't seen in months were meeting downtown, and I was genuinely excited. I even brought my makeup bag and a change of clothes with me so I could get ready in her guest bathroom after I put the kids to bed.

By eight-thirty, the kids were asleep. I did my hair, put on my outfit, and sat on the couch, fully ready to walk out the door the second she returned.

Nine o'clock rolled around. The house was dead quiet. I sat on the couch in my nice dress, scrolling through my phone. Nine-thirty came and went.

I called her phone. It rang out to voicemail. I sent a text asking for an ETA. No response.

By ten o'clock, my friends were texting me asking where I was. By eleven, I was pacing the length of the living room, furious and exhausted, watching my entire night evaporate yet again.

I kept calling. I kept texting. Total radio silence.

When the clock hit midnight, my patience completely snapped. My friends were moving on to a bar, and my night was officially ruined. I called her one more time and left a very clear, very deliberate voicemail.

I told her that if she was not walking through the front door in exactly one hour, I was going to consider her children abandoned and I would be calling the authorities. I typed out the exact same message and sent it as a text, just to make sure I had it in writing.

My boyfriend and I live forty kilometers apart, which isn't supposed to be a long-distance relationship, but for the last few months, it has felt exactly like one. We both have demanding jobs, and our schedules started clashing in ways that felt almost comical at first. We met a little over two years ago through mutual friends, and back then, the distance meant nothing.

I work normal office hours, while his shifts bounce between days, nights, and weekends without much warning. In the beginning, we made it work with late-night coffee runs or early morning breakfasts just to steal an hour together. But somewhere around the start of summer, the effort shifted entirely.

The quick meetups stopped happening, and our weekend plans kept getting derailed by exhaustion or sudden overtime on his end. Before I fully processed what was happening, August rolled into October, and we hadn't been in the same room for seven straight weeks. It wasn’t a clean break, but the messages were thinning out, reduced to basic check-ins and tired updates.

I was the one keeping the momentum alive, suggesting dates he would agree to and then cancel at the eleventh hour. Every time, he had an excuse that sounded just plausible enough that I couldn't get mad without looking unreasonable. The night before we finally saw each other, he bailed on a dinner reservation I’d booked three weeks in advance.

He claimed a pipe burst at his apartment and he had to wait for the maintenance guy. I spent that Friday evening on my couch, feeling deeply rejected, wondering if I was just clinging to a ghost. But then Saturday morning, he called, sounding genuinely apologetic.

He told me the apartment was sorted and asked if I could drive over to his place to spend the night. I packed a bag, trying to push down the resentment, telling myself this was the turning point we desperately needed. I walked up to his door with a smile, ready to drop the baggage of the last two months and just enjoy his company.

I knocked, expecting the kind of warm, eager greeting you give someone you genuinely miss. Instead, he opened the door, and the energy in the room immediately felt wrong. He hugged me, but it was stiff, the kind of embrace you give a distant relative you haven't seen in years.

We sat on his couch, and the silence stretched out between us, thick and uncomfortable. He barely made eye contact and left a massive physical gap between us that felt intentional. Every topic I brought up faded out after a few sentences.

He kept putting his phone face-down on the coffee table, snatching it up every time the screen lit up, completely disengaged from my presence. We ordered takeout, watched a movie neither of us was really paying attention to, and went to bed early. I lay awake for a long time listening to him breathe, feeling a hollow ache in my chest.

Sunday morning arrived, and he was already out of bed making coffee when I woke up. I grabbed my towel from my overnight bag and walked into his bathroom, completely unprepared for the reality check that was waiting for me.

I'm an introverted guy who doesn't talk much unless I have something to say. I just like to keep to myself most of the time. After work, I usually seek out quiet places where I can decompress for a bit before heading home.

A few months ago, a small coffee shop opened near my apartment. I started going there regularly to relax. The owner is an older guy, probably in his late 60s or early 70s. He's friendly but very talkative.

He asks follow-up questions to every single answer you give. Honestly, I didn't hate the guy or anything like that. I figured he was probably lonely and just liked chatting with customers. Usually, I'd just answer politely and sip my coffee.

Last week, I had a rough day at work that left me mentally exhausted. I still had extra work I needed to finish at home. On the way back, I stopped by the coffee shop to have a latte. I just wanted a few minutes to reset my brain.

The owner started talking to me like usual the second I walked in. He asked how my day was and why I looked tired. Then he kept pressing to see if work was stressful. I answered his questions, but I probably spoke in a flat tone.

Then he suddenly asked me what was wrong with my attitude. I thought I misheard him at first. I just looked at him and said, ""Excuse me?"" He then went on a rant about my behavior.

He claimed I answered like he was bothering me. He said if I was going to be rude, I could just leave. I was caught off guard by his sudden anger. I explained that I wasn't trying to be rude at all.

I told him I was just exhausted from work. But he kept talking over me and wouldn't let me finish a sentence. He kept insisting I was being disrespectful in his shop. Then he told me again to leave.

The thing is, I had just gotten my coffee and barely drank any of it. I pointed out that I hadn't even finished my drink yet. He didn't care and just pointed at the door. He told me to get out, so I left without paying.

My thinking at the time was pretty straightforward. If you're kicking me out before I can even drink the coffee, I shouldn't have to pay. I wasn't trying to scam anyone. I was just overwhelmed and wanted to escape the situation.

Later on, I told my girlfriend about what happened. She said I was still wrong for not paying because the coffee had already been made. She agreed the owner overreacted, but claimed I basically dined and dashed. Now I'm questioning my own reaction.

I don't know what the standard protocol is here. Part of me thinks if you throw someone out over a simple misunderstanding, you forfeit the transaction. You can't expect a customer to calmly hand over money after being kicked out.

I spent the absolute entirety of my twenties walking around in borrowed scrubs and operating on barely four hours of sleep. I just finished my residency a year ago and finally settled into a predictable, manageable rhythm as a hospitalist. For the first time in my adult life, I actually have the mental bandwidth to think about building a future with someone.

I am twenty-nine years old, and I want the whole traditional package—a solid marriage, a house with a backyard, and a couple of kids. Financially, I am in a place I used to fantasize about when I was drowning in a sea of student loans. I make very good money, I have zero debt outside my mortgage, and I am finally ready to take dating seriously.

The problem is that dating at this specific stage in life, with this specific career, is incredibly frustrating. I typically go out with men around my own age who are in a similar, upper-middle-class income bracket. I certainly don't have a hard time getting dates, but finding someone who views partnership the same way I do is exhausting.

A lot of high-earning men are looking for a ""supportive wife"" who will eventually take a massive step back from her own ambitions. They love to casually mention that they can take care of all the finances, assuming that is exactly what I want to hear. But I didn't sacrifice a decade of my youth just to become a background character in someone else's success story.

I want a partner who tackles the stressful stuff with me, not someone who expects to fund my life while I stay home. I realized I might be limiting my own options by strictly filtering for income and career prestige. I told myself I needed to be much more open-minded and start dating outside my tax bracket.

That mindset shift led me to agree to a date with a guy I probably would have politely brushed off a year ago. He is a substitute teacher who happens to be the cousin of one of my former patients. We had bumped into each other a few times, he was undeniably attractive, and he finally asked me out.

When he asked where I wanted to go, I suggested a brand-new restaurant across town that I had been dying to try. I honestly didn't think about the menu prices when I picked it, which is a blind spot that is entirely on me. I was just excited to wear a nice dress, have a great meal, and see if we had any real chemistry.

The place had a gorgeous ambiance, but I could tell right away he was uneasy. He kept scanning the menu, flipping it over, and staring at the prices instead of reading the actual meal descriptions. When the waiter finally came by, he quietly ordered a single, basic pasta dish and asked for a glass of tap water.

I have always been a massive foodie, and when I finally get a night out, I like to genuinely enjoy the experience. I ordered two craft cocktails, a really nice seafood appetizer for the table, and a steak entree for myself. I also put in an order for a specific dessert right at the beginning, asking the waiter to bring it out early.

I'm hoping to get some perspective on a situation involving my roommates. Last night, I got home from dinner and found a pizza sitting on the steps outside our apartment. I didn't order it, so I texted our roommate group chat just to let everyone know it was out there.

One of my roommates, who I don't get along with, was home too. She saw my text and grabbed the food, bringing it inside to put on the counter. She didn't order it either. Later, when our other two roommates got home, I was in my room.

I overheard the one who brought it inside asking if the pizza belonged to them. It turned out that no one in our apartment had ordered it. Since we're all in college, they were quite happy about finding free food. They ate some of it that night and then put whatever was leftover into the fridge.

No one spoke directly to me about the situation or the fact that the food was unclaimed, but I could hear their whole conversation from my room. They didn't bring it up to me, so I didn't eat any of it that night.

The next day, I decided to have a couple of slices from the fridge. Suddenly, the roommate who brought it inside got mad at me. She accused me of eating 'her' pizza. I can't understand her thought process. She wouldn't have even known it was out there if I hadn't texted the group chat in the first place.

Furthermore, nobody in our apartment paid for it, so it isn't hers to claim. I feel like I've got just as much right to eat the mystery pizza as anyone else living here. Am I wrong?

I've been hosting events for friends and family since I was eighteen. I usually do it entirely for free, asking only to be paid in a plate of good food and a decent time. Most of the time, the people I love respect the work and treat me like an honored guest who happens to be helping out.

Daisy used to be one of those very close friends, though we had definitely drifted apart over the last few years. So I was honestly shocked when I heard through the grapevine that she was actively telling people I’d be hosting her sister's wedding reception. She didn't even bother to actually ask me until exactly two weeks before the date.

My first instinct was to politely decline the extremely late offer. But I have always been fond of her family, and I knew her sister was trying to keep a strict budget for a much smaller wedding. I told myself it was a necessary favor for people I cared about, so I pushed my annoyance aside and agreed to do it.

I spent two evenings drafting a full reception program and sent it over for the bride's approval. I heard absolutely nothing back from either of them for almost two entire weeks. The day before the wedding, Daisy finally texted me a quick, dismissive message just saying the schedule looked okay.

I felt a little uneasy about the blatant lack of communication, but I decided to push through since I had already committed my weekend to them. On the morning of the wedding, Daisy texted me again with a sudden change of plans. She told me to skip the church ceremony entirely and just meet everyone straight at the reception venue.

I thought it was a bit strange to exclude the host from the ceremony, but I followed her instructions and drove straight to the hall. The moment I walked through the front doors, I was instantly ambushed by three women. I later learned they were the groom's aunts, and they certainly didn't introduce themselves before they started laying into me.

They openly criticized everything about my appearance right there in the empty lobby. They loudly told me I should have dressed much better and complained that I was going to ruin all of their pristine family wedding photos. I was actually wearing a modest, plain dress that the bride herself had explicitly pre-approved.

I had also kept my makeup incredibly simple because I was there to work, not to pull focus from the actual wedding party. Instead of fighting back with the angry aunts, I just lowered my head and quietly took the scolding. I figured I would just wait for Daisy and the bride to arrive so they could finally clear the air.

I stood near the venue entrance for forty uncomfortable minutes, feeling completely out of place and unwelcome. When the wedding party finally pulled up in their cars, I felt a massive wave of relief wash over me. I stepped forward to greet Daisy, fully expecting her to explain my presence to the groom's aggressive family members.

Before I could even get a single word out, the aunts completely swarmed Daisy and the bride. They pointed directly at me and complained loudly about how cheap and unprofessional the host they hired looked. I stood there quietly, waiting for my former friend to immediately shut them down and defend my free labor.
