Portuguese Contemporary Artist | Hyperbaroque |Lisbon His works are theatrical pieces, inspired by the hyper-realities of society, the market and propaganda.

Miguel Rodrigues (1987) studied Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon after studying Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. In the last years he has chosen the baroque period and its history as an object of reflection, bringing it to contemporaneity and to the hyperbaroque. His works have been exhibited since 2015 in Portugal, Russia, Turkey

and Belgium. Having passed by important Heritage European sites such as the Catherine Palace (St Petersburg), the Skapi Sabanci Museum (Istanbul), the Mayer Van den Bergh Museum (Antwerp).

O Centro Cultural Português (CCP) em Bissau recebe o artista português Miguel Rodrigues para uma conversa aberta ao público, dedicada à apresentação do seu percurso artístico e da sua obra.

Escultor, Miguel Rodrigues frequentou a Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa e tem vindo a afirmar-se no panorama internacional com o projeto que designa por Hyperbaroque — uma reinterpretação contemporânea do Barroco, em que o excesso, o dourado e a teatralidade dialogam com as dinâmicas da sociedade atual, o consumo e os mecanismos de poder.

A sua obra foi já apresentada em espaços de referência internacional, como o Palácio das Necessidades, em Lisboa/Portugal, o Palácio de verão de Catarina II, em Tsarkoye Selo/Rússia, o Museu Sakıp Sabancı, em Istambul/Turquia, e o Hotel Four Seasons Park Lane, em Londres/Reino Unido, entre outros contextos culturais e institucionais.

Nesta sessão no CCP, o artista falará do seu processo criativo, das influências históricas que atravessam o seu trabalho e da forma como constrói esculturas onde se entrecruzam herança barroca e visão contemporânea, luxo e ironia, memória e crítica social.

GEMINI - my sculpture created for new store at Tersane Istanbul its now open to the public. It was a great project that took 2 months to install together with Beymen architecture team and .eu

GEMINI stretches for 26 meters across the space like a suspended horizon line - at once wave, bridge, and passage. Its elongated form embodies movement and encounter, drawing Lisbon and Istanbul together through the shared element of water.
