We’re happy to announce that AFEK will be performing at our festival again this year! The incredible sounds of his last performance are still ringing in our ears. AFEKS DJ sets contain mostly self-produced tracks mixed with the best of the rest.
AFEK is a project based on combinations and contradictions.
Afek Ben Yishay, a talented music-producer and pianist, paves his own unique path and weaves his strong life experiences and emotions intohis music.
The AFEK project symbolically uses contrasting themes
such as organic vs mechanical and synthetic sounds
combined with acoustic instruments and field recordings.
The exploration of unique spaces and emotive language
along with a creative take on original sound design are
all an essential part of his sonic signature. Musically he is
drawn to many diverse genres such as Psy-Dub,
Downtempo, Psy-Bass and Drum & Bass. All while
sticking to an earthy and rooted psychedelic experience.
His work has garnered international recognition, leading
to official releases on renowned labels such as Merkaba
Music (AU), Shanti Planti (UK), and The Gradient
Perspective (US).

A new day another band announcement:

The Crusties are a party band playing well known classics as well as hidden gems. They’ll be opening our beloved festival this year. We are so looking forward to start this years festivities with them!

BAND NEWS!

The last couple of months we have been working hard on getting the best bands and Dj's in the Beiras together for our summer festival.
We are excited to announce that Doctors of space is one of them!
Doctors of space consists of 2 gifted musicians: Martin Weaver on bass, guitar and drum computers and the one and only Dr. Space on synths. Fasten your seatbelts, enjoy a bit of all improvised electronic space rock music and take an epic trip into the galaxy and beyond!

6 weeks to go until the festival and things are starting to take shape!

We had an absolute DREAM of a team day on Sunday... thankyou to Olena for the beautiful photos!

Lots of progress on deco - the new shade parasols are looking so good.

In the kitchen we got a big batch of yummy chutney made, and pitta breads tested in the pizza oven 🔥.

Site team got the chipper working, oak trees beautifully pruned...
..and we are VERY EXCITED to report that the lineup for music and workshops are very close to being finalised.

Next team day is Saturday 27th June when we'll be getting the paints out and working on the festival signs. If you like knowing where the toilets are, what's for sale at the bar, how to find your tent or whether or not to supervise your kids at the pool 👀 come and give us a hand!

Getting creative about new ways to stay cool, make the site look awesome and use sustainable materials is something we love to geek out about.

*WHAT IS UNIFANT?*

Unifant is a non-profit Association based in Travancinha, near Oliveira do Hospital and Seia.

We are a mix of ages and nationalities... from portuguese (and the amazing support we receive from the team at the local freguesia) to english, dutch, german, belgian, japanese, czech, israeli, and more!

Our goal is to build connections between old and young, immigrants and locals, past and present.

Everyone is welcome at our inclusive events (be warned, if you show up more than once we'll probably put you on the volunteer rota!)

If you like to make music, dance, and meet new people you are invited to come along and find out what we're about!

What our world needs more than ever is connection. It’s what we crave online, it’s what we seek when we look for somewhere to live, it’s what we dream of when we share our thoughts and ideas.

For the group of friends who created Unifant Association, and the community we've grown over the past 10 years, our goal is to build more spaces for real life connection.

Through music, dance, creativity, play… under the trees and down the trails, we gather to meet each other and grow.
