She is not asking to be looked at. She is deciding whether to let you.
Red 04 marks a turn in Felismina's Red series. The blond apparitions of the earlier canvases gave us shock, grief, suspension, here, a dark-haired figure meets the viewer with something far more dangerous: composure. The gaze is level, unblinking, almost accusatory. The red that flooded the previous portraits now frames her like war paint, gathering around the eyes and cheekbones as if it had been worn rather than suffered.

That reversal is the painting's power. The victim's iconography becomes the survivor's armor.

At 140 × 96 cm, the face looms larger than life, and Felismina's technique reaches an almost uncomfortable intimacy, the wet gleam on the lower lip, the dark shadow pooled beneath the brow, each glacial iris built up in translucent layers until it holds actual light. The old masters painted saints and martyrs at this scale. Felismina paints endurance.

The silence in this scream is not absence. It's restraint, and it's aimed directly at you.

If "Red 01" was a confrontation, "Red 02" is a descent.

Felismina pushes this second portrait into deeper shadow, a chiaroscuro that belongs to Caravaggio and Ribera, redirected toward the present. Half the face dissolves into darkness; the other half emerges cropped, exposed, almost monastic with its shorn hair. And through that fragile clarity, red falls in slow vertical rivers, tracing the pull of gravity down the cheek, the jaw, the neck, the shoulder.

Where the red once spread like a mask, here it streams, and that shift changes everything. This is no longer an image of what has happened, but of what is still happening. Time enters the painting. The parted lips hold a word that never arrives.

Painted in luminous glazes on a square canvas, a format that offers no horizon, no escape, "Red 02" achieves what hyperrealism rarely dares: technical perfection placed entirely in the service of emotional exposure. The virtuosity disappears. Only the presence remains.

A silent scream, held at the exact moment before sound.

Oil on canvas - 87 × 128 cm

There are paintings you look at, and paintings that look back. Red 01 belongs to the second kind.
In this monumental hyperrealist portrait, Cristiano Felismina suspends a face between innocence and rupture. The wide, glacial blue eyes hold our gaze with unbearable calm, while cascades of crimson, is it blood, is it paint? Flood the lower half of the face like a mask the sitter never chose. Felismina refuses to resolve the ambiguity. That refusal is the work.

Painted with the patience of the old masters: thin glazes, breathless transitions, skin that seems to hold light from within, "Red 01" collides classical technique with raw contemporary urgency. Against a deep teal ground borrowed from the tradition of the Flemish portrait, the red becomes almost sacramental: a wound, a baptism, a silent scream made visible.

This is figurative painting at its most fearless, vulnerability rendered with such precision that looking away feels like abandoning someone.

Meet the Crocodile by Valay Shende - Now installed by Tilsitt Gallery🐊

Thousands of hand-welded metallic discs form the scales of this monumental wall sculpture, each one catching the light like a mirror. In magenta, the reptile becomes something else entirely: predator turned jewel, danger turned desire. It’s classic Valay Shende, the Mumbai-based artist who transforms industrial materials into shimmering, larger-than-life bodies that question consumption, power, and the surfaces we choose to show the world.

Contemporary Indian art at its most audacious. Available now: DM us for price and details, or visit us in Porto.

OAK - Zsuzsanna Györgyövics
Hand-braided wire sculpture | 185 × 150 × 10 cm

Suspended between drawing and sculpture, Oak is a monumental wall-mounted wire tree by Hungarian artist Zsuzsanna Györgyövics, hundreds of meters of iron wire, twisted and braided entirely by hand, without machinery or welding.

Born in Budapest in 1969 and raised in a village surrounded by forests, Györgyövics has made the tree the singular subject of her practice: “the purest metaphor for existence: it changes, it dies, it is reborn. Just like us.”

In Oak, that philosophy takes physical form. The canopy unfurls in a calligraphic rhythm of blackened and golden strands; the exposed roots cascade downward like a held breath. Mounted ten centimeters from the wall, the sculpture breathes with the light around it — its cast shadow becoming a second, spectral drawing that shifts as the viewer moves.

This is contemporary metal sculpture at its most patient: time and gesture made visible, strand by strand.

A surface that breathes. From a distance, Expose exposed reads as a textile, a quilted field, a Braille of light, a topography rippling under invisible breath. Approach it, and the illusion resolves into something quieter and more astonishing: hundreds of meticulously hand-sanded white birch plywood pieces, each individually shaped and layered into a relief that catches light the way water catches sky.

Cha Jong Rye (b. 1968, Daejeon, South Korea) has spent more than two decades developing one of the most singular sculptural languages in contemporary Korean art. Trained at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, where she completed her MFA in Sculpture in 1996, she works wood as if it were clay, paint, or breath, sanding it by hand, hour after hour, until the material relinquishes its grain and weight and begins to behave like fabric, like dune, like time itself.

Her process is what she calls intentionally unintentional. There is no preparatory drawing, no predetermined image. The sculpture emerges from the conversation between her hand and the wood, and reveals itself only at the moment of completion. The result, in works like Expose exposed, is a meditation on creation, infinity, and the slow rhythm of becoming, concerns rooted in Buddhist thought and in the artist's lifelong inquiry into what she terms the true self.

Cha Jong Rye's work is held in significant institutional and private collections internationally, with solo exhibitions at the Sungkok Art Museum (Seoul), Nampo Art Museum (Goheung), Bauzium Sculpture Museum (Gangwon-do), and The Center for Art in Wood (Philadelphia). Her sculptures have been presented in Seoul, Daegu, Boston, Atlanta, Basel, Singapore, and beyond.

A rare opportunity to acquire a major wall-mounted work from her mature period.

A journey is never a line, it is a sediment. Le Grand Voyage condenses into a single panoramic field what an entire life of crossings has deposited in the artist's memory: the cobalt of Atlantic light, the cadmium of southern earth, the deep emeralds of forests glimpsed from a moving window, the magenta of dusks no longer locatable on any map. The painting does not represent a voyage; it is one.

Born in Sarrebourg in 1948 and trained as an engineer, Gérard Stricher pursued a long international career in industry, across Asia, the Americas, Northern Europe, before returning fully to painting from his studio in an old mill in the French Vexin. The years away never left him: the people, the landscapes, the cities encountered settled into the strata of memory, only to resurface decades later in the unconscious authority of his canvases. He is, in the truest sense, a world citizen who paints.

Le Grand Voyage makes that biography visible. The horizontal 90 × 195 cm format is cinematic, a traveling shot rather than a stationary view, pulling the eye laterally across continents of color. Thick impasto erupts from the surface; luminous drips mark the passage of time on the canvas itself.
His work belongs to a rare lineage that reconciles the gestural force of postwar abstraction with the chromatic intelligence of the School of Paris: Turner's atmospheric light, CoBrA's vitality, Van Gogh's tender violence, synthesized into an entirely singular voice.

Held in major collections including the PepsiCo Foundation, New York, and the Empire Bank Collection, Springfield, with an international exhibition history across Paris, Chicago, Houston, Düsseldorf, and Vienna.

A river does not flow through this canvas, it sings through it. In Là où chante une Rivière, Gérard Stricher (b. 1948, Sarrebourg, France) translates the most elemental experience of nature into a chromatic score. A serpentine current of turquoise and lavender cuts vertically through the composition, carrying the reflections of an entire landscape: cadmium yellows, hot pinks, deep magentas, and the emerald shadows of an unseen canopy above.

Stricher paints from an old mill studio in the Vexin, a watered countryside whose rivers and light have steeped his vision for two decades. The work is at once pure abstraction and lived geography, a memory of place returned to the canvas as pure sensation.

His painting belongs to a rare lineage that reconciles the gestural urgency of postwar abstraction with the chromatic intelligence inherited from the School of Paris. Turner lives in his atmospheric light; CoBrA in his vitality; Van Gogh in his tender violence. The synthesis, however, is wholly his own.
At 160 × 160 cm, this is among the most ambitious formats in the artist's recent production. The thick impasto of the upper banks gives way to luminous drips in the lower register, as if the pigment itself had been carried downstream. The painting does not depict a landscape, it enacts one.
Stricher's works are held in major collections including the PepsiCo Foundation, New York, and the Empire Bank Collection, Springfield, with an international exhibition history across Paris, Porto, Chicago, Houston, Düsseldorf, and Vienna.
