Após o êxito da primeira edição e da apresentação de uma mostra em Buenos Aires, no passado mês de Outubro, o Panazorean assume-se em 2013 como um dos eventos culturais de produção açoriana de maior notoriedade e projeção internacional, ao ter registado a inscrição de 415 filmes provenientes de 60 países nesta segunda edição. Partindo do cinema sobre as migrações e a intercultur
alidade, nesta edição, o Panazorean programou um conjunto de filmes que incitam à viagem, à curiosidade sobre o mundo e sobre todos os que o habitam, sem preconceitos, celebrando o poder do cinema na promoção da diversidade cultural. Assim, serão exibidas 17 longas e 20 curtas de 23 países que nos farão viajar pelos dois hemisférios, em diversos continentes e imaginários, desafiando de forma permanente o nosso olhar . Continuamos a proporcionar ao espetador a possibilidade de intervir, confrontar as suas ideias, participar e surpreender-se. Este ano, facilitamos o acesso às sessões, através de uma parceria estratégica estabelecida com a SATA, permitindo aos portadores do cartão SATA IMAGINE assistir a todas as sessões de cinema, de forma gratuita. O incentivo à participação do público traduz-se ainda pela possibilidade de os espetadores elegerem os melhores filmes, tal como sucedeu na I edição do Panazorean. Desta forma, além de um núcleo de conceituados jurados, também a voz do público será ouvida aquando da seleção dos melhores. Fruto de uma criteriosa seleção, os espetadores poderão apreciar 27 filmes em competição, dos mais variados géneros cinematográficos, sendo de destacar que oito dos filmes estrangeiros em competição são estreias absolutas em Portugal, alguns deles já premiados nos principais festivais mundiais. No que diz respeito à secção não-competitiva, estará presente uma seleção de 4 filmes dos prémios LUX, do Parlamento Europeu, entre os quais o vencedor de 2011 e os três finalistas de 2012 e ainda uma mostra de filmes do festival argentino Cinemigrante. Durante dez dias, para além de exibição de filmes, o programa do Panazorean será marcado por um conjunto significativo de atividades paralelas: workshops, exposições, conferências, festas e uma homenagem ao realizador açoriano Zeca Medeiros. Destacamos os workshops de cinema que o Panazorean leva a cabo a fim de incentivar a produção de cinema nos Açores (um dos principais objetivos do festival), e em particular a realização de um workshop para o público infantil. Nesta II edição as atividades do Panazorean terão lugar num número mais alargado de espaços. Para além das habituais sessões de cinema no Teatro Micaelense, também serão exibidos filmes no 9500 Cineclube (Cine Solmar) e realizadas outras atividades na Galeria/Bar Arco 8 e no Instituto Cultural de Ponta Delgada. In view of the success of the first edition and after last October’s presentation of the film exhibition in Buenos Aires, Panazorean is considered one of the most important events of 2013, both in the Azores and at an international scale, and after receiving 415 films from 60 countries for the second edition. In the current 2013 edition, the theme of the festival is more wide-ranging. Along with the films about migration and interculturality, Panazorean prepared several films to encourage the wish to travel, to arise curiosity about the world and its people without prejudices and to celebrate the power of film to promote cultural diversity. The 17 full-length and 20 short films from 23 countries are a journey to the two hemispheres, to different continents and imaginaries, permanently challenging the way we look at it. In addition to once again granting the opportunity for the audience to intervene, confront their ideas, participate and be surprised, this year, we have maximized the access to the sessions –which could only have been possible with the strategic partnership established with SATA (enabling SATA IMAGINE card-holders to attend all film sessions for free). The incentive to the audience participation is reflected in the possibility offered to spectators to choose the best films, just like in the first edition of Panazorean. In this way, together with a group of respected juries, the voice of the audience will also be taken under consideration when selecting the best films. As a result of a strict selection, the spectators will have the privilege to appreciate 22 films of most varied film genres present in the competition. The eight foreign films taking part in the competition will be screened in Portugal for the first time, some of which have been already awarded several prizes at world festivals. In the non-competitive category, there will be a selection of 4 films from the European Parliament LUX Prize, including the 2011 winner and the three 2012 finalists, along with a film session devoted to the Argentinean Festival Cinemigrante. In addition to the screening of films, the Panazorean program offers a set of significant parallel activities during ten days: film sessions, workshops, exhibitions, conferences, parties and a tribute to the Azorean director Zeca Medeiros. The film workshops organized by Panazorean also deserve special attention. They are intended to encourage film production in the Azores (one of the festival’s main objectives), particularly the workshop for the young ones: 1,2,3, Assim o Cinema Se Fez. In this 2nd edition, the diverse activities at Panazorean will take place in a larger number of venues. Besides the usual film sessions at Teatro Micaelense, the screenings will also be at 9500 Cineclube (Cine Solmar). Other activities will be hosted by Galeria/Bar Arco8 and at the Cultural Institute of Ponta Delgada.
