Choir may be one of the last places where we still practice being truly together. So much of modern life can happen individually, asynchronously, and on our own terms.
Thank you for your inspirational words!

Ensemble singing asks something completely different. You have to listen while you contribute, adjust without disappearing, breathe with others, and tune into something outside yourself.
You cannot simply perfect an individual part and call it an ensemble. The sound only works when everyone is continually responding to everyone else. That is more than a musical skill.

In a culture increasingly built around individual experience, choir still gives us a place to practice attention, cooperation, vulnerability, and real human connection. Maybe what we are losing isn’t just togetherness, but places that teach us how to do it.

Living in the Algarve sounds like a year round holiday. And for some of our members that is actually the case. But for others the summer months are the high season with houses to rent out, guests to take care of and school reports to finalize. Anyhow, a summer break is welcome for everybody. Time to enjoy the beautiful beaches and to relax some some more. Not for long of course, because in September the singing season will start again. We have a lot to work on, with the competition in Spain just around the corner. But first we ended our season in style with an outside drink of Portonico, the fresh combination of white port, tonic water and mint. A nossa!

There is always something special about a concert in our homebase, Republica 14 in Olhão. And last Saturday was indeed very special. It was a magical evening outside with many old and new songs, new choreography and a harmonious atmosphere. In addition, it was a concert full of first times. The first concert with amplification, the first concert with two quartets (thanks French Connection and Four Degrees), four newbies having their very first concert with Bella Acapella and a full presentation in both English and Portuguese (thanks Carla, Dinorah and Sónia).

The amazing Angel City Chorale invited us to participate in a global singing community. We participated by submitting a picture wrapping our chorus in a single red thread, to be included in a special backdrop during their performance of "I Love You / What a Wonderful World". Apart from Bella Acapella, almost 100 choirs participated. From Virginia to Venezuela, Pasadena to Portugal, Minneapolis to Madrid, Northfield to the Netherlands, Skokie to Scotland and South Africa. It is an explosion of love and a testament to our global desire for connection. We are very grateful to Angel City Chorale and their artistic conductor Sue Fink for allowing us to be part of this.

And we are growing fast!🎶

Yesterday we welcomed Andreia Martins as a another new lead and a full member. She and her buddy Nicole did a great job!

Also Peter Ludgrove as our new bass and full member. He and his buddy Jan (not in the photo) also did a great job.
