We started working on the first Cradle of the Gods cover before the first issue was even complete.

At the time, only the first ten pages existed. Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan had the full outline but not the details of the full story yet. But we all agreed on one thing from the start: the feeling we wanted the cover to evoke.

The question was simple: how do you capture the spirit of a pirate adventure before the reader opens the book?

We kept coming back to the movie posters many of us grew up with, especially the iconic work of the late Drew Struzan , especially for Indiana Jones.

What makes those posters so memorable isn’t just the illustration style. It’s the composition. They work almost like visual summaries of the entire story, bringing together characters, locations, dangers, and moments of wonder into a single image.

The result, created by Simone D'Armini 🇮🇹🫀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 , is a collage of snapshots from the adventure, a compressed impression of what awaits inside the book, blending the three elements that are precious to my personal creative process: tone, theme, and fantasy.

Before you read a single page, we wanted you to feel the call of the high seas, the promise of hidden mysteries, and the chaos of pirate shenanigans.

A journey such as this is shaped by the people who choose to undertake it together. Thanks to your continued support, we have now surpassed our €20,000 stretch goal on our Kickstarter Campaign.

To mark the occasion, the Cradle of the Gods Collector’s Edition will receive another special touch: a gold-debossed skull-and-bones emblem on the back cover, inspired by the artwork featured on our commemorative doubloon.

But the voyage is not yet complete.

Behind the Scenes - Pedro Almeida, Community Manager

I absolutely love mario_delpennino ’s linework and the personality he brought to Cecily and Lavender on this page. Lavender is one of my favorite characters, so seeing him so happy genuinely makes me happy too. The colors make everything pop, and I especially love how both characters’ personalities shine through while highlighting the strong friendship they share with the rest of the group. At the same time, the page gives readers just a small peek into the larger plot, striking a great balance between heartfelt character moments and intriguing story development.
