REN HANG (1987-2017)
In memoriam



O excepcional artista Chinês REN HANG, representado pela nossa Galeria, suicidou-se ontem em Berlim, aos 29 anos de idade.

Não presumo ter conhecido bem o REN nem tão pouco ter tido com ele uma relação de amizade. O curto tempo durante o qual trabalhámos juntos e a distância que nos separava nunca o permitiu.

Conhecia - conheço - muito bem, porém, a sua obra. E esta é sobretudo uma inigualável celebração do mais alto dos valores: a Liberdade. Aquela Liberdade que não poucas vezes lhe foi negada. Não só por ser homosexual mas principalmente por acreditar que Homens nasceram para poder - de qualquer forma que o milagre da vida lhes permita - ser felizes.

As atribulações sobre esta terra de REN HANG, o homem, terminaram. Começam agora as de REN HANG, o Artista da luminosa crença num Mundo sem amarras.

In memoriam

The exceptional Chinese artist REN HANG, represented by our Gallery, committed su***de yesterday in Berlin at age 29.

I do not presume to have known him well nor having had a friendship with him. The short time we worked together and the distance that separated us never allowed it.

I did know very well, however, his work. And his work is mainly a unique celebration of the highest value of mankind: Freedom. That Freedom that so often was denied to him. Not just for being gay but mainly for believing that Men were born to be able - in whatever way the miracle of life allows - be happy.

The tribulations on this Earth of REN HANG, the man, are over. The tribulations of REN HANG, the Artist of the luminous belief in an unbound World, start now.
