I would like to share with you my story and why I have initiated BaBoMiDa.
I started it because I notice that like myself many other mothers and infants might need support as much as I needed it.
So, here is my story, I went through a risk pregnancy due to my age, and unfortunately a C-Section was planned since the beginning.
When the doctor told me that a C-Section was the only option, I felt very disappointed because 19 years ago, I was very lucky to experience the beauty of a natural childbirth and how I recovered really fast and I also knew that with a C-Section I would be facing a much longer recovery process.
My daughter was born with a C-section, without any problems and a healthy gorgeous baby was born on March, 2018.
Due to my somatic movement education, I believe that babies born with C-Section, that did not experienced the pressure of the head against the birth canal as well as the spiraling during the birth process, might have a later influence on how the neurodevelopmental movement patterns occur.
What me and my husband experienced with our daughter after her birth, was that to place a hand on top of her head would get her to calm down and put her to sleep, also sometimes during her sleep she would practice the push with her head against our hands or a pillow.
She also had difficulties to relax her head, while being on our arms held upright, she always keep her head up all the time, like being always alert.
Because she was always so alert, I noticed, that she was getting tired very fast, the fact that she was not being able to yield in, to to rest her head down and relax was very frustrating, so she would whine or cry.
I started to facilitate my daughter in a way that I could support her to find her own pathway and find rest. I was laying my daughter briefly on her belly and placing my hands very gently on the back of her head, almost without weight more like a presence, or I would place my index finger and my thumb, down to her occipital bone allowing her to relax her neck muscles, specifically the sub-occipital muscles. And with time she realized that she could relax her head on the floor.
My daughter is a high muscle tone baby, her muscle structure is very strong so my sessions are mainly to facilitate her to yield in at mom and dad’s chest, at the floor as well as during her sleep and helping her to relax her nervous system with the use of hands-on techniques and massage.
With 4 months she started to scream in a very high frequency tone, and again I could noticing her being under muscular tension and not being able to modulate and play with her sounds.
In August, I went to Prague for a Dynamic EmbodimentTM Intensive Studies and of course I took my baby everyday to class. Martha Eddy was working on her every day and I noticed that after 4 days my baby was using new sounds and was able to sleep on her belly.
Still in Prague, one day I woke up with the idea to offer bodywork specifically for babies, parents and caregivers.
While having breakfast, I shared this idea with my husband and we started to brainstorm around a name for that specific work, my husband is a great name finder and so BaBoMiDa was created.
I keep on facilitating my daughter almost everyday, supporting her through the neurodevelopmental movement patterns with playfulness and joy.
I use the baby ball position, facing her towards my chest, with her legs and arms crossed or with her facing outwards, still keep her legs and arms crossed, without force but playfulness. And a big gym ball, sitting and bouncing, moving and dancing together at different rhythms is a great support and lots of fun.
Nowadays, my daughter is able to lay on her belly and yield in, resting in prone position and to modulate her voice producing constantly new sounds and it is a great joy to observe each day new paths arising.
thank you for reading my story and do not hesitate to get in contact in case needed.
