PT • O Passeio da Estrela regressa sábado, dia 4 de Julho, para um dia especial em que 9 galerias do bairro da Estrela e do Rato irão apresentar vários eventos.
Na galeria Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art, teremos o encerramento da nossa exposição atual “DAWN” de João Pedro Vale + Nuno Alexandre Ferreira. E às 17h00 teremos a última repetição das performances com Afonso Peixoto, Ângelo Castro, Cire Ndiaye e Diogo Bento.

Serão disponibilizados tuk tuks para transporte entre os locais.

EN • Passeio da Estrela is back on Saturday July 4, for a special day where 9 galleries of the Estrela & Rato neighbourhood will host different events.
At the Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art gallery, we will have the finissage of our current show “DAWN” by João Pedro Vale + Nuno Alexandre Ferreira. And at 5pm there will be the final repetition of the performances with Afonso Peixoto, Ângelo Castro, Cire Ndiaye and Diogo Bento.

PT • “DAWN apresenta um novo corpo de trabalho que dá continuidade à investigação da dupla em torno da agência social e política da vida noturna q***r. O título convoca um momento liminar: a passagem entre a noite e o dia, evocando a memória de regressar a casa ao romper da manhã, depois de uma longa noite, quando os vestígios da noite permanecem ainda no hálito e no corpo.

A galeria transforma-se num percurso de bares escultóricos: objetos híbridos que operam simultaneamente como arquitetura, narrativa e palco. Estas obras não se limitam a representar bares; elas performatizam-nos. O desenho de cada estrutura propõe um vocabulário formal e simbólico distinto, ao mesmo tempo que examina coletivamente o bar enquanto espaço social capaz de produzir proximidade entre estranhos e criar comunidade. Ativadas por performers em funções de bartenders em momentos específicos da exposição, as esculturas oscilam entre instalação inerte e ambiente vivido.”

EN • “DAWN presents a new body of work that continues the duo’s ongoing research into the social and political agency of q***r nightlife. The title evokes a liminal moment: the passage between night and day, evoking memories of walking home at daybreak after a long night out, when traces of the night still linger on the breath and body.

The gallery is transformed into a parcour of sculptural bars: hybrid objects operating simultaneously as architecture, narrative, and stage. These works do not merely represent bars; they perform them. The design of each structure proposes a distinct formal and symbolic vocabulary, while collectively examining the bar as a social space capable of producing proximity between strangers and creating community. Activated by performers-cum-bartenders at specific moments during the exhibition, the sculptures oscillate between inert installation and lived environment.”

PT • “Slits are Girls” de Ângela Ferreira com curadoria de Andrew Renton está patente no The Showroom em Londres até dia 7 de Junho. A exposição apresenta duas versões do punk – a do Reino Unido e a da África do Sul. Ambas as histórias interpretam o seu respetivo momento revolucionário de formas diferentes, mas interligadas.
