O Doclisboa, em parceria com a Cinemateca Portuguesa, apresentará de 15 a 25 de Outubro uma retrospectiva dedicada ao filipino Lino Brocka (1939–1991), um dos realizadores mais influentes da história do cinema asiático, com um profundo compromisso com a realidade social e política das Filipinas. Com curadoria do também filipino artista e cineasta Khavn de la Cruz, em conjunto com as equipas de programação do festival e da Cinemateca, Lino Brocka - Matem o Artista Nacional será uma das mais importantes mostras de sempre dedicadas a este autor fundamental. Com o apoio da Embaixada das Filipinas em Portugal.

🗓️ Na Sessão de Antecipação da Retrospectiva, a acontecer na noite de 17 de Julho na esplanada da Cinemateca, poderão assistir a um dos seus filmes mais aclamados, Bona (1980), onde, através da obsessão de uma jovem por um actor medíocre e abusivo, o filme constrói um retrato devastador da exploração, da ilusão e das desigualdades sociais.

Em Outubro, o mundo inteiro cabe em Lisboa.

Doclisboa, in partnership with the Cinemateca Portuguesa, will present a retrospective from October 15 to 25 dedicated to the Filipino filmmaker Lino Brocka (1939–1991), one of the most influential directors in the history of Asian cinema, who was deeply committed to the social and political realities of the Philippines. Curated by fellow Filipino artist and filmmaker Khavn de la Cruz, in collaboration with the programming teams of the festival and the Cinemateca, “Lino Brocka—They Killed the National Artist” will be one of the most important exhibitions ever dedicated to this seminal filmmaker. With the support of the Philippine Embassy in Portugal.

🗓️ At the Anticipation Session of the retrospective, taking place on the evening of July 17 on Cinemateca’s terrace, you’ll have the chance to watch one of his most acclaimed films, “Bona” (1980), in which, through a young woman’s obsession with a mediocre and abusive actor, the film paints a devastating portrait of exploitation, illusion, and social inequalities.

In October, the whole world comes to Lisbon.

David Hockney (07.1937 – 06.2026) foi e será uma das figuras mais marcantes, inovadoras e influentes da história da arte contemporânea.
Sendo impossível ficar indiferente à notícia do seu falecimento, recordamos o filme “Genius: Eniaios III – Reel 2, 3, 4" (1970), de Gregory J. Markopoulos, exibido no Doclisboa’15. O filme insere Honckney no cinema de vanguarda, num retrato triplo, inspirado na lenda de Fausto, do artista britânico, bem como do pintor surrealista argentino Leonor Fini e do comerciante de arte Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler. Com uma estrutura rigorosamente calculada, "Genius" constitui a secção central da mítica obra “Eniaios III”, oferecendo um olhar raro e histórico sobre o artista.

David Hockney (July 1937 – June 2026) was and will remain one of the most striking, innovative, and influential figures in the history of contemporary art.
As it is impossible to remain indifferent to the news of his passing, we recall the film “Genius: Eniaios III – Reel 2, 3, 4” (1970), by Gregory J. Markopoulos, screened at Doclisboa’15. The film places Hockney within avant-garde cinema, in a triptych inspired by the legend of Faust, featuring the British artist, as well as the Argentine surrealist painter Leonor Fini and the art dealer Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler. With a rigorously calculated structure, “Genius” constitutes the central section of the legendary work “Eniaios III,” offering a rare and historical glimpse into the artist’s life.

Hoje, as ruas de Lisboa enchem-se de cor. Celebramos com a 27.ª Marcha do Orgulho LGBTI+ de Lisboa o amor, a diversidade e a liberdade, sem nunca esquecer quem nos abriu o caminho. Uma luta feita de coragem e solidariedade contra o preconceito e a invisibilidade.
É neste tom de celebração que vos deixamos uma série de filmes das nossas edições passadas, com comentários do Letterboxd. Através de realidades q***r partilhadas nas nossas salas, continuaremos a ajudar a derrubar fronteiras, preconceitos e tabus. Contamos convosco?

Siri Hustvedt estará hoje na Fundação Luso-Americana para uma conversa sobre o seu novo livro “Fantasmas” e nós aproveitamos a ocasião para anunciar que o filme “Siri Hustvedt – Dance around the Self”, de Sabine Lidl, terá a sua estreia nacional na próxima edição do Doclisboa, a decorrer entre 15 e 25 de Outubro.

Apresentado na secção Panorama da Berlinale 2026, o filme traça o percurso pessoal e literário de Hustvedt, bem como o amor e despedida da vida partilhada com o escritor Paul Auster (1947–2024). No Doclisboa, integrará a secção Heart Beat, sempre muito querida do público do festival.

Siri Hustvedt will be at Fundação Luso-Americana today for a discussion about her new book “Ghosts”, and we’d like to take this opportunity to announce that the film “Siri Hustvedt – Dance around the Self”, directed by Sabine Lidl, will have its national premiere at the upcoming edition of Doclisboa, taking place from October 15 to 25.

Presented in the Panorama section of the 2026 Berlinale, the film traces Hustvedt’s personal and literary journey, as well as the love and farewell of the life she shared with writer Paul Auster (1947–2024). At Doclisboa, it will be part of the Heart Beat section, always a favorite with the festival’s audience.

Chega já esta semana aos cinemas “Ali, Aqui” (2025), que teve estreia mundial na edição do Doclisboa de 2025 e foi muito bem recebido pelo público que esgotou a Cinemateca Portuguesa para vê-lo.

No filme de Fábio Lima, José Monteiro, Marlene Nobre, Martina Maher, Rafael Moura e Sony (Edmilson Furtado), produzido no contexto do projecto de cinema comunitário .almada, Rafa sai de casa para fazer um recado ao pai e encontra situações inesperadas.
A partir da história principal, o filme revela outras: Nelson convence Txidy a cortar-lhe o cabelo em troca de ajuda; Jamir procura Tofinha nas hortas, junto ao rio Tejo; Sony deambula pelo Penajóia à procura de palavras para o seu poema Ali. Numa aventura pelos diversos bairros do Monte da Caparica, o filme é uma versão de um território e de uma história, a partir da memória dos seus habitantes.

Já são conhecidos os vencedores do Prémio Doc Alliance 2026, anunciados hoje em Cannes, com a presença da equipa do Doclisboa. O Prémio Doc Alliance para Melhor Longa-Metragem foi atribuído a “The Case Against Space” (Reino Unido/França), de Graeme Arnfield. A distinção para Melhor Curta-Metragem foi para “Some of You Fu**ed Eva” (França), de Lilith Grasmug. Já a longa-metragem “Fantaisie” ( França), de Isabel Pagliai, que fez parte da edição de 2025 do Doclisboa, recebeu uma Menção Especial do Júri.

Há 36 anos, a OMS retirou a homoss*xualidade da Classificação Internacional de Doenças, abrindo caminho à despatologização das identidades LGBTQIA+. Hoje, quando Portugal retrocede na autodeterminação de género e persistem números de violência contra pessoas q***r, o 17 de maio segue como uma data de resistência e memória.
Neste post, damos-te uma lista de sugestões de edições passadas do Doclisboa que retratam as formas de discriminação, resistência e exclusão enfrentadas diariamente por pessoas LGBTQIA+.

36 years ago, WHO removed homos*xuality from the International Classification of Diseases, paving the way for the depathologization of LGBTQIA+ identities. Today, as Portugal takes a step backward on gender self-determination and violence against q***r people continues, May 17 remains a day of resistance and remembrance.
In this post, we provide a list of recommendations from past editions of Doclisboa that depict the forms of discrimination, resistance, and exclusion faced daily by LGBTQIA+ people.

🎥 “It’s not Fado, It’s Fa**ot Fado” (2022), by Erin Macpherson. By reclaiming the scars that homophobia and transphobia have given them, Fado B***a exposes what Fado music could have been if society were more accepting.

🎥 “Life Is Not a Competition, But I’m Winning” (2023), by Julia Fuhr Mann. A collective of q***r athletes sets out to honour those who were excluded from the winners’ podium. Together they create a radical utopia far from the rigid gender rules in competitive sports.

🎥 “Times of Desire” (2020), by Raquel Marques. A new place in the world is revealed while Bea is confronted with loss and what she imagines will come. In the house that prepares itself to embrace change, fears dwell. An unforeseen loneliness also seems to be part of her desire, that of being a mother without a partner and a le***an.

🎥 “In Hell with Ivo” (2025), by Kristina Nikolova. Hailing from Bulgaria, a conservative country where virtually no one is openly gay, emerges the flamboyant performance artist and musician Ivo Dimchev. Rejected by his family, Ivo invites us into his life, displaying himself with no shame and embracing his narcissism, s*x addiction and confrontational nature.

🎥 “Atopia” (2012), by Olivier De Vos. An introspective essay about the search for a place that exists between reality and imagination: a placeless place made up out of dreams, chimeras and a desire for gender fluidity.

🎥 “Casa Susanna” (2022), by Sébastien Lifsh*tz. In the 1950s and 1960s, deep in the north american countryside, a small wooden house was home to the first clandestine network of cross-dressers. Diane and Kate, now 80 years old, relate this forgotten but essential chapter of the early days of trans-identity.

🎥 “Playback” (2019), by Agustina Comedi. Far away from Argentina’s capital city, the end of a military regime promises a spring that doesn’t last long. ‘La Delpi’ is the only survivor from a group of transgender women and drag queens, who began to die of AIDS in the late 1980s. Today, the images of a unique and unknown footage are not only a farewell letter, but also a friendship manifesto.

🎥 “100 Ways to Cross the Border” (2022), by Amber Bemak. A self-reflexive documentary on the performance artist Guillermo Gómez-Peña’s 40-year career with La Pocha Nostra. When the media is filled with demonizing stories about the US–Mexico border, the film presents the philosophical frameworks of an artist with a dedication to artistic interventions on that border.

🎥 “The Beach of Enchaquirados” (2019), Iván Mora Manzano. Vicky is a fisherman by day and bar owner at night. When she was a little boy her dream was to be a radio soap opera star; nowadays she dreams of falling in love again.

🎥 “One Minute Is an Eternity for Those Who Are Suffering” (2025), by Fábio Rogério and Wesley Pereira de Castro. The protagonist place in Sergipe is the whole universe, with his most beloved ones: his mother, the animals, the plants, the books and the films. Between personal diary and a treatise about what it means to be human, the claustrophobia of fear and dreams that are bigger than reality, and the natural fluids and the abstraction of pixels, cinema is being born.

[PT below] In partnership with the Slow Pitch – ZagrebDox Pro 2026 program, Nebulae 2026 will host the project “Transformation Stories from Akbelen Forest,” directed by Selen Çatalyürekli and produced by Zeyneb Gültekin (Nar Film, Turkey).
The project is told through an ecofeminist lens - a work that explores personal change and imagines a just transition from extraction toward regenerative, gender-aware futures.
Nebulae, Doclisboa’s Industry Space, takes place within the context of the festival and features a series of activities such as roundtables, project presentations, and creative and critical workshops.

Em parceria com o programa Slow Pitch - ZagrebDox Pro 2026, o Nebulae 2026 receberá o projecto "Transformation Stories from Akbelen Forest," dirigido por Selen Çatalyürekli e produzido por Zeyneb Gültekin (Nar Film, Turquia).
