A Kunsthalle Lissabon tem o prazer de apresentar "La Chantin", a primeira exposição individual em Portugal do artista panamenho Cisco Merel. Com inauguração a 18 de março e concebido especificamente para o espaço da KL.

🏠🌴 O título da exposição, "La Chantin", recupera a gíria panamenha para designar a casa ou o lar. Contudo, a sua origem revela uma história de resiliência e movimento: a palavra deriva do inglês shanty. O termo viajou com a diáspora afro-antilhana durante a construção do Canal do Panamá, dando nome a uma arquitetura de urgência e resistência. Nesta exposição, Cisco Merel recupera estas formas arquitetónicas populares para refletir sobre como o lar se constrói e se reconstitui em contextos de migração e desarraigo. "La Chantin" convida o público a participar ativando as obras por meio do movimento; a casa deixa de ser um lugar fixo para se converter num território transformável, constantemente negociado por aqueles que o habitam. Cada deslocamento gerado pela ação coletiva produz uma nova composição espacial e uma reinterpretação da memória.

✨ 💙 Kunsthalle Lissabon is pleased to present "La Chantin," the first solo exhibition in Portugal by Panamanian artist Cisco Merel. Opening on March 18 and conceived specifically for the KL space.

🏠🌴The exhibition title, "La Chantin," draws from Panamanian slang for house or home. However, its origin reveals a history of resilience and movement: the word is derived from the English shanty. The term traveled with the Afro-Antillean diaspora during the construction of the Panama Canal, giving rise to an architecture of urgency and resistance. In this exhibition, Cisco Merel recovers these popular architectural forms to reflect on how the home is built and reconstituted in contexts of migration and uprooting. "La Chantin" invites the audience to participate by activating the works through movement; the house ceases to be a fixed place and becomes a transformable territory, constantly negotiated by those who inhabit it. Each displacement generated by collective action produces a new spatial composition and a reinterpretation of memory.

💚 The opening will take place on Wednesday, 18 March, at 6 PM. The exhibition is free and open to the public from Thursday to Saturday, 3 PM to 7 PM. 🔥 Programa expositivo 2026🔥

Temos o prazer de anunciar a programação para 2026. A primavera 🌱 trará uma exposição individual de Cisco Merel, artista que vive e trabalha no Panamá e desenvolve um trabalho a partir das suas raízes sino-afro-panamenhas, cruzando arte popular, arquitetura e memória recorrendo a processos industriais e materiais orgânicos que dão forma a geometrias abstratas ligadas ao território e à história. No verão ☀️, apresentaremos uma exposição individual de June Crespo, artista que vive e trabalha em Bilbao e investiga, através da escultura, a relação entre corpo, matéria e espaço arquitetónico, tensionando escala, peso e presença física. O outono 🍂 será marcado pela exposição de Yuli Yamagata, artista que vive e trabalha em São Paulo. A exposição dá continuidade ao projeto iniciado no Católica Art Center, numa colaboração com a Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, no Porto; o seu trabalho centra-se na escultura, no têxtil e na costura, criando universos híbridos onde se cruzam humor, estranheza e referências da cultura pop. O inverno ❄️ encerra o ano com uma exposição individual de Adriana Proganó, artista nascida em Lucerna, Suíça, que vive e trabalha em Lisboa, e cujo trabalho atravessa pintura, escultura e instalação, explorando cor, linguagem e gesto, frequentemente através do humor e da ironia. A exposição será a primeira de um projeto em duas partes desenvolvido em parceria com a 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, também em Lisboa.

🔥 Exhibition program 2026🔥
We are pleased to announce the 2026 program. Spring 🌱 will bring a solo exhibition by Cisco Merel, an artist who lives and works in Panama and develops work based on his Chinese-Afro-Panamanian roots, combining popular art, architecture, and memory using industrial processes and organic materials that give shape to abstract geometries linked to the territory and history. In summer ☀️, we will present a solo exhibition by June Crespo, an artist who lives and works in Bilbao and investigates, through sculpture, the relationship between body, matter, and architectural space, tensioning scale, weight, and physical presence. Autumn 🍂 will feature an exhibition by Yuli Yamagata, an artist based in São Paulo. The exhibition continues the project initiated at the Católica Art Center, in collaboration with the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto. Her work focuses on sculpture, textiles, and sewing, creating hybrid universes where humor, strangeness, and pop culture references intersect. Winter ❄️ closes the year with a solo exhibition by Adriana Proganó, an artist born in Lucerne, Switzerland, who lives and works in Lisbon, and whose work spans painting, sculpture, and installation, exploring color, language, and gesture, often through humor and irony. The exhibition will be the first of a two-part project developed in partnership with 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, also in Lisbon.

A Kunsthalle Lissabon tem o prazer de apresentar “Luso-portugueses”, uma exposição individual do artista visual René Tavares, nascido em São Tomé. Em exibição de 10 de dezembro de 2025 a 28 de fevereiro de 2026.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 A exposição reúne um novo conjunto de obras concebidas especialmente para a KL. Neste corpo de trabalho, Tavares continua a explorar a sua pesquisa sobre memória histórica e pertença, convidando-nos a refletir sobre como a história é transmitida e transformada através de imagens, corpos e territórios. “Luso-portugueses” interroga como nos vemos e como somos vistos, mas também quem nos nomeia, quem detém o poder de nomear e o que essa nomeação produz simbolicamente, politicamente e socialmente.

Kunsthalle Lissabon is pleased to present “Luso-portugueses”, a solo show by visual artist René Tavares, born in São Tomé, running from 10 December 2025 to 28 February 2026.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 The exhibition brings together a new body of works created especially for KL. In this series, Tavares continues to explore his research on historical memory and belonging, inviting us to reflect on how history is transmitted and transformed through images, bodies, and territories. “Luso-portugueses” interrogates how we see ourselves and how we are seen, but also who names us, who holds the power to name, and what that naming produces symbolically, politically, and socially.

A Kunsthalle Lissabon tem o prazer de apresentar “As We Fade”, uma exposição individual da cineasta e artista multimédia uzbeque Saodat Ismailova.

⛰️ A exposição convida ao envolvimento com a complexa história dos rituais sagrados, imposições políticas e transformações culturais da montanha Sulaiman-Too, o mais antigo local de peregrinação da Ásia Central. Uma narrativa cativante e instigante que levanta questões sobre como o poder estatal, as rupturas históricas e o passar do tempo alteram os locais sagrados, questionando o que é lembrado ou apagado e o que resiste ao esquecimento.

⛰️ The exhibition invites visitors to engage with the complex history of Sulaiman-Too Mountain—the oldest pilgrimage site in Central Asia—through its sacred rituals, political impositions, and cultural transformations. This captivating and thought-provoking narrative reflects on how state power, historical ruptures, and the passage of time shape sacred sites, questioning what is remembered or erased, and what endures against oblivion.

💫‼️ The opening will take place on Wednesday, September 10, at 6:00 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public from Thursday to Saturday, 3:00–7:00 p.m. Kunsthalle Lissabon is supported by the Portuguese Republic / DGArtes, the Lisbon City Council, and the Vasco Collection.

(PT) 💫 A Kunsthalle Lissabon tem o prazer de apresentar "Torcer, amarrar e pender", a primeira exposição individual em Portugal de Sonia Gomes, uma das vozes mais relevantes da arte contemporânea brasileira.

Através de uma prática baseada em têxteis, Gomes resgata materiais negligenciados, transformando-os em recipientes de memória, resistência e cuidado. A sua obra é um gesto radical que converte o tecido em esculturas orgânicas, mas também ao entrelaçamento de histórias, afetos e redes de apoio que sustentam o seu trabalho.

(ENG) 💫 Kunsthalle Lissabon is pleased to present "Torcer, amarrar e pender" (Twisting, Tying, Hanging), the first solo exhibition in Portugal by Sonia Gomes, one of the most relevant voices in Brazilian contemporary art.

Through a textile-based practice, Gomes reclaims overlooked materials, transforming them into vessels of memory, resistance, and care. Her work is a radical act of reconstructing lives, voices, stories, and traditions through fabric. She also converts fabric into organic sculptures and the intertwining of stories, affections, and support networks that sustain her work.

Lou Vives, artista plástico que este mês esteve à conversa com a Agenda Cultural de Lisboa para a reportagem 'Na primeira pessoa', inaugura a 16 de janeiro, na Kunsthalle Lissabon, 'Ritmos y Poemas'.

Naquela que é a sua primeira exposição individual, o artista parte de uma performance com bateria para abordar as “noções de memória, poética q***r e efemeridade”. Entre as várias peças, estão litografias, um mural e uma cassete chamada “a minha voz antiga”.

“Esta exposição em Lisboa é quase toda uma espécie de diário do que vivi este último ano e tem muito a ver com uma exploração de identidade e q***rness e de uma relação de distância de uma pessoa que cresceu em Lisboa, mas que tem pais espanhóis e agora vive na Holanda. Utilizo a minha biografia e as minhas coisas como material plástico, mas a verdade é que nos podemos interrogar que trabalho não tem a ver com a subjetividade do seu autor.”
