Lx Kathak - Lisboa Kathak - is a platform for hot and happening curious minds and bodies devoted to telling stories through the ever refreshing dance form, KATHAK. Its “Content” is the king and “Story telling” is the way how you say it. One of the 8 major classical dance forms of India, Kathak traces its origins and gradual evolution to the tradition of kathākāras – the roaming story tellers of Northern India. Hence – “kathā kahe so Kathak kahāve.”
(translated) “One who tells a story is called Kathak”
Characterized by rhythmic footwork, tinkling ankle bells, fast pirouettes punctuated with sculpturesque postures, Kathak is one of the most natural of Classical dance forms combining exuberance with reticence, lending it an irresistible charm which easily inspires itself to innovation and fusion.
