ONE YEAR AGO TODAY

We’ve all been thru this. Still, we have the memories of the most amazing details that have happened on times like this.

One year ago today, we had our last experience of Fado until now, as our friends Susan and Ron reminded me. I felt emotional with a tear in the eye and goosebumps by reading this text, and immediately called them back.

We remembered that evening on March ‘20. We weren’t using masks and there was no alcohol gel, but I insisted that everybody wash their hands on arrival and before the traditional snack. We were distant and everybody had singular cutlery even for taking the olives, lupines, bread, cheese, chorizo, etc.

The guests were so kind and friendly that those details didn’t prevent us to have the most incredible gathering we can only imagine.
For Susan and Ron, as they told me, was the perfect farewell from our country, since it was their last day in town. For us it was the perfect temporary goodbye to this amazing “tertúlia” we so much care and love! If we had only imagine that would be the last for a long time, we could only have wish it would be like this!

As one of our guests told us, the three “F’s” all together: Fado, Food & Friends!

But not only me, Susan and Ron remembered that day, we also decided to be together as soon as they can comeback, which they intend to do! I invited them to have lunch at my place! No worries fellows! I’m cooking but this time there will be no public reviews 😂.

Love to Susan, Ron and all the guests that joined us with the generosity and kindness that made our dream come true!

When we’ve started this adventure, on March 2018, I had a previous period of learning, in depth, everything I could about something that was in my soul and knowledge as a Fado lover for life.

I did it for respect for myself, the musicians and all the guests we never imagined would join and gave us the kindness and friendship that turned Fado the best experience on the subject.

My sister Ana Cristina Bernardo Bernardo, extraordinaire classical piano player and a musician doctor degree, loaned me this book which was inspiring and very useful. My technical learning started with it and I really feel I’m blessed!

I don’t think there’s a foreign language translation but I wanted to share part of the starting story of the all adventure. My apologies.
I’ll be posting another referencial book, translated, that I hope you can all enjoy.
