Looking back on PLAY(THE)GROUND: Friendship & Collaboration, we are deeply grateful for the many people who made this all of it possible.
From 6–23 June, our exhibition and public programme brought together artists, residents, partners and visitors across the Centro Comunitário da Apelação and Picoas Metro Station Project Space Lisbon, presenting the outcomes of our residency programme in Quinta da Fonte, Quinta do Mocho, Bairro do Zambujal and Talude. Through exhibitions, workshops, conversations, performances and guided tours, we explored friendship and collaboration as practices of care, exchange and collective creation.
Our sincere thanks go to all participating artists: Dela Christin Miessen, Rosa Baptista, Batu Behram, Masya, Christina Teixeira, Charlotte Abalé Gnahoré, Rita de Matos, Laura Palma and Amanda Oiza Bucknor, whose works and collaborative processes shaped this exhibition. We also warmly thank our resident artists Olivia Möller and Abigail Indi, as well as our curatorial team and workshop support: Amanda Oiza Bucknor, Klio Michou, Tea Brachard, Frederike Antonia Ohnewald, Dela Christin Miessen and Maria Ilieva and Fernando B. Martínez for their dedication, care and commitment throughout the project.
A special thanks goes to our partners, Centro Comunitário da Apelação and AMRT - Associação para a Mudança e Representação Transcultural.
Most importantly, thank you to the residents and communities of Quinta da Fonte, Quinta do Mocho, Bairro do Zambujal and Talude, who welcomed us, shared their time, stories and experiences, with us, also in difficult times and reminded us again how real connection is built through trust, generosity and being together.
We carry these memories with us and look forward to further projects together.
