Triste realidade!
When you buy an old azulejo tile, clearly detached from a wall, at the Lisbon flea market, you are contributing to the country's loss of heritage.
Sorry to ruin your holiday memory, but you can find certified antique azulejos in other shops (D’Orey Tiles, Solar Antiques, antiquidades da rua do alecrim, etc…).
You MUST DEMAND a certificate when you buy an “old” azulejo, and if the seller can't provide it, it's either stolen...or it's a fake, go straight to the police: it’s such a big problem in Portugal that they actually have a dedicated department.
Don't break the law and above all, don't endorse this appalling market.
NO MERCY!

Óptimas recordações de uma sessão de pintura em azulejos há um ano com os alunos do 5º ano da Piedade e das Lajes, por ocasião da festa de Outono que acabou por se transformar numa festa de Primavera ! 🙃😁
(Este painel lindo pode ser visto no hall de entrada da Escola Básica e Secundária das Lajes do Pico 🥰)

No último domingo, tive o prazer de ministrar uma pequena oficina de estêncil em azulejos com crianças muito talentosas 🥰 Agradeço Freguesia Calheta Nesquim e Município das Lajes do Pico pelo convite!
