A pink/light blue/lilac ceramic "flower bowl" in summertime... These bowls are so fun to glaze! And, in fact, we used glazes from 3 separate brands; Amaco, Mayco and Spectrum. The American glazes are our favourites 🩷

Behind every ceramic piece in our pottery there is a lot of work; first shaping the clay (either on the potter's wheel or making a slab, which is then shaped) and then decorating on the dry clay piece. Have a look at the process of how these two pieces were decorated! It all begins with drawing the decor with a pencil and then filling in the colours (like a colouring book 🌝). However, we add many layers on each "field"- just like we were creating an oil or acrylic painting. After all the colours and layers are in place, we paint black lines around each field and also add lots and lots of small lines wherever it feels artistic to do so.
Finally, as ceramic artists- unlike a "normal" artist- we put our paintings in a kiln where there is 1250 degrees!!! Talk about having to keep your nerves calm...!

A few examples of our "colourglazed" ceramics (in contrast to our hand decorated items). Some people prefer this kind of abstract decoration instead of hand painted one. We love both and that is why we offer both kinds in our shop! 😍
