Signing up for three workshops at the ensured a busy time with lots of learning opportunities and plenty of inspiration - not only from the workshop instructors Dan Archer Richard Briggs and Veronica Lawlor but also my fellow . Still getting my head around all the new ideas and seeds that got planted during these sessions. Also, special thanks to the volunteers who steered us in the right direction during these workshops, and gave up their time to help with the smooth running of the event.

Last day of travels. Sketching people at the airport in Lille and on the plane.

Continuing our travels in Ghent, Brugge, and Brussels by train. Such a fun and convenient way to travel. Much prefer it to flying. Ghent was a blast. Would go back there in a heartbeat. Brugges was a bust.

Went to Paris for a concert to see Dub Inc, and then spent three days wandering around the city ricocheting from sidewalk cafe to sidewalk cafe. Grabbing a little sketch time where possible.

Flight to Paris delayed so plenty of time to sit and watch, and sketch my fellow passengers. Humans really are a fidgety bunch. Thanks goodness they’re easily distracted by phones and lining up in orderly queues.

It only takes a little bit of the Algarvian sun to turn visitors from the British Isles to a lobster-red. Quick sketch at the cafe.

Trying a few of the challenges from this year’s . This challenge was from and was to draw the same thing multiple times. I was meant to draw an object. But I drew Koosje from her video instead.

Last Thursday I went along to the opening night of the new Collage Show . It’s a group show featuring lots of local artists - and is well worth a visit. Rather than spend all evening with a glass of wine in my hand I took my sketchbook, fountain pen and watercolours and sketched a few of the art lovers and artists attending. I was just going to sketch portraits but there were so many memorable outfits I ended up sketching a few of those as well. I only had a small 8cm square sketchbook with me. Next time I think I’m going to need a larger sketchbook. Enjoy the riot of colour.
