Our precious summer solstice stone glowed on cue.

One year previously, archaeologically-minded aUStians created a stone circle in honour of our first Summer Solstice within our parish walls.

On the basis of one conscious two-stone stone alignment through a conveniently placed Olive tree and onward towards to the mountaintop castle of Monsanto we sited four facing pairs of stones.

Consequently, and unbeknownst to us two further alignments then became apparent through the day of the solstice itself.

Firstly, another of the two stone alignments directly mapped to the appearance of the sunrise on Solstice morning.

Finally, and wholly unexpectedly, on the sunset of that Solstice evening the final sun of the sun fell directly for no more than a minute or two onto our most west-looking stone, changing it momentarily from the usual grey and green to an almost unearthly, iridescent golden, reflective surface.

Subsequent days saw no repeat of the sunset alignment and the golden stone.
