Cantores da Costa is an international choir based in the Silver Coast of Portugal. See our About section for more info.

Our mission is to to foster community through traditional and contemporary classical music. We welcome new members of all nationalities. Meeting Thursday evenings in Tornada, Cantores da Costa is led by Jon Luxton. Jon performed full-time with the Gulbenkian Orchestra for over 30 years and has directed choirs internationally for over 20 years. Focusing primarily on classical music, Cantores da Cos

ta also sings traditional folk music and contemporary choral pieces. We strive for excellence while maintaining a joyful, community atmosphere. We are open to prospective members joining us for a rehearsal to see what we're all about (no audition necessary).

The Cantores da Costa choir will have its first rehearsal of the season TWO WEEKS from today! September 3, 19:00-20:30 in Tornada at Igreja Paroquial Nossa Senhora da Anunciacao de Tornada. We rehearse in the hall to the left of the church. There is a small parking lot.

We are open to members! We do not require an audition. We sing four-part pieces, mostly classical. While we do sing challenging music, we have members of a variety of levels including some who have never sung in a choir before. We always recommend people come to one of our rehearsals to try it out and see if it's a good fit for them. Please spread the word as we'd love to see some new faces on September 3rd!

Here's a snippet from our May concert. We're singing a song written by none other than King Henry VIII of England. Pastime with Good Company ( probably written before he knocked off a few wives!!!)

N: Our Cantores da Costa - Silver Coast choir is starting again for the Fall Season on September 3. We hope you will consider joining the choir and adding your voice to our group. We are a multi-cultural group and sing songs in various languages. Feel free to visit a Thursday evening practice if you want to meet us and feel the group vibe.
