CUSP DJ

GOOD PEOPLE & GOOD MUSIC CUSP was founded ten years ago by Amadeu Clasen in Portugal and stands for Centre Utopias Sonhos Projectos. A spit of an idea.

"We don't even try to categorise or label the music, instead our selection depends on and is inspired by the space and the people to whom it is addressed." The acronym of CUSP is also the Portuguese verb, to spit. Whilst the concept of utopia is a state of being so perfect it is an unattainable dream, to CUSP, it is a tangible concept. CUSP reflects the way its creative director loves to live his

life as an individual, simply and openly, with a genuine belief in the healing power of music. Each performance aims to create a community, where people who identify with the same philosophy can meet and be together. There are two driving forces to CUSP:
1) the passion to inspire people through a love for vinyl records, which encompasses all musical genres
2) the natural need for self-expression through creativity and art. Everything Amadeu does while playing music expresses this. Every DJ set is not only an audible feast but a visual one. Amadeu creatively designs the space around him, to encapsulate the mood he wishes to define for the evening. Whether that's plugging into the market landscape surroundings of his set by building a console stand of delivery crates or turning his stand into a romantic restaurant table, complete with table cloth and flowers. You can find CUSP at The Agile Rabbit in Brixton Village every Sunday 4pm till midnight.
