O escritor francês Antoine de Saint-Exupéry disse uma vez: “A perfeição é alcançada não quando não há mais nada a adicionar, mas quando não há nada mais a retirar.” Essa busca pelo essencial levou à criação de John & Dan, um duo derivado do grupo avant-rock Barbez (Tzadik, Important Records). John & Dan é composto por Dan Kaufman, fundador da Barbez, na guitarra, e John Bollinger, o baterista de longa data da banda, que toca vibrafone, baixo, projeta vídeos e toca bateria. Neste momento, eles estão a finalizar o seu álbum de estreia com o produtor e engenheiro Martin Bisi, e contam com a participação especial de Dawn McCarthy (Faun Fables). A dupla explora um vasto território sonoro que abrange tanto a ternura quanto a ferocidade.

The French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once wrote: “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away,” That quest for the elemental led to the creation of John & Dan, an offshoot duo of the avant-rock group Barbez (Tzadik, Important Records). John & Dan features Barbez founder Dan Kaufman on guitar and the group’s longtime drummer John Bollinger on vibraphone, bass, video projection, and drums. Currently finishing their debut album with the master producer and engineer Martin Bisi, and featuring a guest appearance by Dawn McCarthy (Faun Fables), the pair explore a vast sonic terrain that encompasses both tenderness and ferocity.
