Camila Vale (Portugal, 1993) é realizadora e artista visual residente no Barreiro. A sua prática desenvolve-se entre a imagem em movimento, a instalação e o som, explorando relações entre corpo, espaço e matéria. Parte frequentemente de situações quotidianas e gestos íntimos, filmados em close-up e com atenção aos seus ritmos e dimensões ritualísticas. Através destes fragmentos individuais, observa formas de comportamento e experiências que pertencem também a um contexto coletivo, aproximando o doméstico do público.

O trabalho com película ocupa um lugar central na sua prática. Filma, revela e manipula os próprios materiais, entendendo o laboratório analógico como parte do processo de construção da imagem. O carácter físico e imprevisível da película, assim como as possibilidades de intervenção sobre a imagem, prolongam-se no espaço através de instalações onde filme, som e objetos coexistem.

Camila Vale (Portugal, 1993) is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Barreiro. Her practice spans moving image, installation and sound, exploring the relationships between the body, space and matter. She often takes her cue from everyday situations and intimate gestures, filmed in close-up and with a focus on their rhythms and ritualistic dimensions. Through these individual fragments, she observes forms of behaviour and experiences that also belong to a collective context, bridging the gap between the domestic and the public sphere.
Working with film occupies a central place in her practice. She films, develops and manipulates the materials herself, viewing the analogue darkroom as part of the process of constructing the image. The physical and unpredictable nature of film, as well as the possibilities for intervening in the image, extend into the space through installations where film, sound and objects coexist.

Francis de Assis Abdullah é um escritor de origem Sírio-Brasileira praticante do
experimento amanuensis (da expressão latina ab manu, que indica a prática de cópia manual). Através do seu trabalho como pesquisador e educador, atravessa o horizonte de eventos possíveis ao instrumentalizar práticas entre som, palavra e imagem, buscando novas linguagens para repetidas realidades.

Francis de Assis Abdullah esteve em residência na PADA Studios entre abril e junho de 2026, onde aprofundou-se em escrita, fotografia e em um intenso trabalho a partir de uma herança plástica do universo hoarding (acumulação).

Francis de Assis Abdullah is a writer of Syrian-Brazilian origin who practises the ‘amanuensis experiment’ (from the Latin expression *ab manu*, which refers to the practice of hand-copying). Through his work as a researcher and educator, he explores the horizon of possible events by developing practices that bridge sound, word and image, seeking new languages for recurring realities.

Francis de Assis Abdullah was in residence at PADA Studios between April and June 2026, where he immersed himself in writing, photography and an intensive body of work drawing on the visual heritage of the ‘hoarding’ (accumulation) universe.

Cristiano Spencer nasceu em 2001, em Portugal, mais precisamente no Barreiro. O seu trabalho é principalmente escultórico, em materiais como pedra, cerâmica e vidro, conjugado com desenhos experimentais, objetos quotidianos ou funcionalidades.

As suas esculturas são principalmente imaginativas, onde explora a ligação entre a arqueologia e a especulação, reinventando elementos do quotidiano, projetando um possível Futuro. Procura uma relação entre o Passado, Presente e Futuro, criando assim artefactos nostálgicos com valor emocional, que coabitam com as diferentes camadas temporais simbólicas.

Cristiano Spencer esteve em residência na PADA Studios entre janeiro e março de 2026, onde produziu esculturas em pedra que resultam de um processo físico e intuitivo, dando origem a formas orgânicas e superfícies que evocam a erosão, o tempo e a resistência. Nesta sua prática escultórica, o gesto parte do respeito pela matéria, revelando direções internas e tensões invisíveis.

Cristiano Spencer was born in 2001 in Portugal, specifically in Barreiro. His work is primarily sculptural, using materials such as stone, ceramics and glass, combined with experimental drawings, everyday objects or functional pieces.

His sculptures are largely imaginative, exploring the link between archaeology and speculation, reinventing elements of everyday life and envisioning a possible future. He seeks a connection between the past, present and future, thereby creating nostalgic artefacts with emotional value that coexist with different symbolic temporal layers.

Cristiano Spencer was in residence at PADA Studios between January and March 2026, where he produced stone sculptures resulting from a physical and intuitive process, giving rise to organic forms and surfaces that evoke erosion, time and resilience. In his sculptural practice, his approach is rooted in a respect for the material, revealing internal directions and invisible tensions.

+ Sophie Louise Hurley-Walker PADA 60

Sophie Louise Hurley-Walker (b. 1991, USA) is a British multidisciplinary artist based in Montreuil, France. Working across large-scale paintings, textiles and sculpture, her practice moves between figurative and abstract forms, exploring what is physically present, alongside ideas of perception and impermanence. Grounded in the physical nature of making, she works with reclaimed yarn, natural dyes, oil paints, pigments, fabric and clay, layering, erasing, rebuilding and translating marks between materials. Drawing from life studies, figures shift between recognisable forms and more ambiguous shapes, reflecting how bodies and thoughts morph over time. Through tactile surfaces and layered gestures, her work considers how a feeling or movement can be held in material, while continuing to change through observation and reframing.

Sophie Louise Hurley-Walker (n. 1991, EUA) é uma artista multidisciplinar britânica que vive em Montreuil, França. Trabalhando com pinturas em grande escala, têxteis e escultura, a sua prática oscila entre formas figurativas e abstratas, explorando o que está fisicamente presente, a par de ideias de perceção e impermanência. Com base na natureza física do processo criativo, trabalha com fios reciclados, corantes naturais, tintas a óleo, pigmentos, tecido e argila, sobrepondo, apagando, reconstruindo e traduzindo marcas entre materiais. Inspirando-se em estudos da vida real, as figuras oscilam entre formas reconhecíveis e contornos mais ambíguos, refletindo a forma como os corpos e os pensamentos se transformam ao longo do tempo. Através de superfícies táteis e gestos em camadas, o seu trabalho reflete sobre como um sentimento ou movimento pode ser capturado no material, ao mesmo tempo que continua a mudar através da observação e da reinterpretação.

+ Sam Hodge PADA 60

Sam Hodge, is a painter and printmaker born in the UK and based in London. Informed by her background in Natural Sciences and Painting Conservation, she makes her pigments and inks from found earths, plants and human-made debris, encouraging these materials to make their own marks and patterns in ways analogous to geological processes. Images emerge from processes of flow, sedimentation, erosion and response to pressure. Discarded pieces of rubbish make their impression on paper through print processes. The results are ambiguous and open to interpretation but often seem organic or animate. Through her interaction with materials, Hodge explores the transformation of matter over widely different timescales and the relationship between humans and the shifting material world.

Sam Hodge é uma pintora e gravadora nascida no Reino Unido e que vive em Londres. Inspirada pela sua formação em Ciências Naturais e Conservação de Pintura, ela produz os seus próprios pigmentos e tintas a partir de terras encontradas, plantas e detritos produzidos pelo homem, incentivando esses materiais a criarem as suas próprias marcas e padrões de forma análoga aos processos geológicos. As imagens surgem de processos de fluxo, sedimentação, erosão e resposta à pressão. Pedaços de lixo descartados deixam a sua marca no papel através de processos de impressão. Os resultados são ambíguos e abertos à interpretação, mas muitas vezes parecem orgânicos ou animados. Através da sua interação com os materiais, Hodge explora a transformação da matéria ao longo de escalas temporais muito diferentes e a relação entre os seres humanos e o mundo material em constante mudança.

Isobel Atacus is a London-based artist working across sculpture and text. Drawing on themes of ambivalence and indeterminacy, she creates precarious sculptural objects that re-describe a sense of uncertainty through processes of quotation, repetition and transformation. Working with found objects, casting, metalwork, textile, writing and organic materials, she reconfigures what is already there, often ‘quoting’ matter in ways that mimic an essayistic approach to sculpture.

Isobel Atacus é uma artista sediada em Londres que trabalha nas áreas da escultura e do texto. Inspirando-se em temas como a ambivalência e a indeterminação, cria objetos escultóricos precários que redefinem uma sensação de incerteza através de processos de citação, repetição e transformação. Trabalhando com objetos encontrados, moldagem, metalurgia, têxteis, escrita e materiais orgânicos, ela reconfigura o que já existe, muitas vezes «citando» a matéria de formas que imitam uma abordagem ensaística à escultura.

+ Orphea PADA 60

Orphea Aerts (1999, Antwerp, Belgium) is a visual artist working with kinetic sculptures, installations and video. Movement plays a central role in her practice. Objects vibrate, react or wander through space, while others wait to be activated. Her works often remain dormant until a visitor activate the work. In that moment the audience becomes an essential part of the artpiece. Through sensors, simple technologies and repurposed devices she creates situations in which the presence of viewers triggers actions or behavior. Humor and absurdity subtly guide her work. By using everyday objects and stripping them of their original function she gives them a new life as autonomous sculptures.

Orphea Aerts (1999, Antuérpia, Bélgica) é uma artista visual que trabalha com esculturas cinéticas, instalações e vídeo. O movimento desempenha um papel central na sua prática. Os objetos vibram, reagem ou vagueiam pelo espaço, enquanto outros aguardam para serem ativados. As suas obras permanecem frequentemente inativas até que um visitante as ative. Nesse momento, o público torna-se uma parte essencial da obra de arte. Através de sensores, tecnologias simples e dispositivos reaproveitados, ela cria situações em que a presença dos espectadores desencadeia ações ou comportamentos. O humor e o absurdo orientam subtilmente o seu trabalho. Ao utilizar objetos do quotidiano e privá-los da sua função original, ela dá-lhes uma nova vida como esculturas autónomas.

+ Milvia Romici ALUMNI STUDIO

Milvia Romici is a Brazilian/Italian interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her practice explores materiality, memory and environmental narratives through sustainable practice. Working with overlooked and discarded materials, pigments and traces gathered from place, she explores how materials carry memory and how encounters with waste can shape our physical and emotional relationship with place. Her practice includes drawing, printmaking, photography and ephemeral installation, often creating temporary environments that invite viewers to move through, interact with and experience the work actively.

Milvia Romici é uma artista e designer interdisciplinar brasileira/italiana que vive em Aotearoa, na Nova Zelândia. O seu trabalho explora a materialidade, a memória e as narrativas ambientais através de práticas sustentáveis. Trabalhando com materiais negligenciados e descartados, pigmentos e vestígios recolhidos no local, ela explora a forma como os materiais transportam memórias e como o contacto com os resíduos pode moldar a nossa relação física e emocional com o lugar. A sua prática inclui desenho, gravura, fotografia e instalações efémeras, criando frequentemente ambientes temporários que convidam os espectadores a percorrer, interagir e vivenciar a obra de forma ativa.

+ Ewelina Makosa PADA 60

Ewelina Makosa was born in Warsaw, Poland. Ewelina Makosa is a visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses installation, photography, video, animation, sculpture, and painting. Her practice explores the relationships between people and objects, material memory, and the traces of human presence embedded in objects and spaces. She is particularly interested in processes of transformation, the loss of function, and the ways in which material remains can reveal individual and collective histories. She holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of the Arts in Poznań, where she completed her doctoral research, “Post-Mortem and Traces of Corporeality”, under the supervision of Prof. Leon Tarasewicz. Her work has been exhibited in Poland and internationally, in solo and group exhibitions across Europe.

Ewelina Makosa nasceu em Varsóvia, na Polónia. Ewelina Makosa é uma artista visual cuja prática multidisciplinar abrange a instalação, a fotografia, o vídeo, a animação, a escultura e a pintura. A sua prática explora as relações entre pessoas e objetos, a memória material e os vestígios da presença humana incorporados em objetos e espaços. Tem um interesse particular pelos processos de transformação, pela perda de função e pelas formas como os vestígios materiais podem revelar histórias individuais e coletivas. É doutorada em Belas-Artes pela Universidade das Artes de Poznań, onde concluiu a sua investigação de doutoramento, intitulada «Post-Mortem e Vestígios da Corporeidade», sob a orientação do Prof. Leon Tarasewicz. O seu trabalho tem sido exibido na Polónia e a nível internacional, em exposições individuais e coletivas por toda a Europa.
