A dupla Carla Cruz & Cláudia Lopes foi selecionada para a residência artística UmbigoLAB @ Fundação da Casa de Mateus 2026

Segundo a deliberação do júri – constituído pela Umbigo, a Fundação da Casa de Mateus, a Fundação Millenium bcp, Liliana Coutinho e Matilde Seabra –, entre as várias candidaturas elegíveis, a proposta de Carla Cruz & Cláudia Lopes destacou-se pelo caráter distinto da abordagem proposta, relativamente aos projetos anteriormente desenvolvidos em residência na Fundação, bem como a coerência no seu percurso e vocabulário artísticos.

O júri destacou ainda o percurso consolidado da dupla no campo da performance e a forma como a proposta parte de uma investigação concreta sobre o território, revelando um interesse particular pelas questões da sedimentação e das temporalidades cruzadas — dimensões consideradas especialmente férteis para uma reflexão sobre o património.

The duo Carla Cruz & Cláudia Lopes was selected for the UmbigoLAB artistic residency at Fundação da Casa de Mateus 2026

According to the Jury’s decision – comprised of Umbigo, the Casa de Mateus Foundation, the Millenium bcp Foundation, Liliana Coutinho, and Matilde Seabra – among the various eligible applications, the proposal by Carla Cruz & Cláudia Lopes stood out for the distinct nature of its approach compared to projects previously developed during their residency at the Foundation, as well as a coherent continuity with their artistic trajectory and vocabulary.

The Jury also highlighted the duo’s consolidated trajectory in the field of performance and how the proposal stems from concrete research on the territory, revealing a particular interest in the issues of sedimentation and crossed temporalities – dimensions considered especially fertile for reflection on heritage.

One Million Points of Light: Alfredo Jaar na Galeria Francisco Fino

“A exposição One Million Points of Light, na Galeria Francisco Fino, apresenta três importantes projetos do artista chileno Alfredo Jaar. Apesar de reunir apenas algumas obras, a mostra transmite uma sensação de abrangência, reunindo algumas das ideias-chave exploradas pelo artista ao longo do seu percurso. Para quem não está familiarizado com o seu trabalho, a exposição, que marca também a sua primeira apresentação individual em Lisboa, pode ser um ponto de partida informativo. Para outros, esta representa um regresso gratificante às principais preocupações do artista: a política, a imagem e a responsabilidade.”

Com curadoria de Maurizio Bortolotti, a exposição One Million Points of Light pode ser visitada na Galeria Francisco Fino até dia 26 de setembro de 2026.

“One Million Points of Light at Galeria Francisco Fino presents three important projects by the Chilean-born artist Alfredo Jaar. Although it comprises only a few pieces, the exhibition feels notably comprehensive, bringing together key ideas the artist has explored across his practice. For those unfamiliar with his body of work, the show, which is also Jaar’s first solo gallery exhibition in Lisbon, might offer an informative entry point, while for others it could serve as a rewarding return to the artist’s central concerns: politics, images, and responsibility.”

Espaço e tempo: lugar-depois, no Museu Zer0

“O que fazer desta História e desta tradição, perante um museu de arte digital? Pode ser como resposta a esta pergunta que se entende a primeira grande exposição do Museu Zer0 enquanto espaço localizável e assim assumido. Outros momentos houve no caminho ainda breve até aqui (mais recentemente, em outubro de 2025), mas lugar – depois, de facto, inaugura uma visão própria, uma estratégia, desígnio e desenho. Essa ocasião foi imaginada por Fátima Marques Pereira, que viria a tomar posse, em março último, como Presidente da nova Direção, e a atual exposição, patente até dezembro, representa o assumir pleno da nova equipa.”

“What to do with this history and tradition in the context of a digital art museum? Perhaps the answer to this question is what explains the first major exhibition of the Zer0 Museum as a locatable and self-contained space. There have been other moments along the still brief path to this point (most recently, in October 2025), but this lugar – depois, in fact – inaugurates its own vision, strategy, design, and vision. This occasion was envisioned by Fátima Marques Pereira, who took office last March as President of the new Board, and the current exhibition, on display until December, represents the full commitment of the new team.”

“Habilidade e delicadeza de gestos, uma observação de olhar contido e intenso são qualidades que transparecem da exposição Uma Árvore, de Daniel Moreira e Rita Castro Neves. A árvore em causa é uma alfarrobeira fixada no chão do sotavento algarvio há vários séculos, que a dupla de artistas observou, nomeou e procurou representar ao longo de três anos.”

Com curadoria de Ana Anacleto, a exposição Uma Árvore pode ser visitada até 24 de outubro de 2026.

“Skill and delicacy of gesture, coupled with a restrained yet intense gaze, are qualities that shine through in the exhibition Uma Árvore by Daniel Moreira and Rita Castro Neves. The tree in question is a carob tree that has stood on the ground in the eastern Algarve for several centuries, which the artist duo observed, named and sought to depict over the course of three years.”

Uma reflexão acerca de arquitectura e paisagem de Fernanda Fragateiro na Escola da Vila, Porta 33, no Porto Santo

“Uma escola é uma floresta é uma escola é uma exposição que nos convida a entrar. Mais do que reunir objetos, obras de arte e outras imagens, propõe um espaço de pensamento, onde arte, educação, paisagem, arquitetura e memória se encontram e se contaminam mutuamente. O título circular estabelece, desde logo, uma relação de equivalência e transformação: uma escola pode ser uma floresta; uma floresta pode ser uma escola.”

“Terra Crua surge como exposição multidisciplinar que busca trazer à atenção do público em geral o potencial da terra – recurso natural, local e disponível – como matéria-prima para a arquitetura contemporânea. Terra Crua, com curadoria de Madalena Vidigal e assistência curatorial de Reka Szilvasi, é uma exposição ambiciosa ao nível conceptual, que mantém essa fasquia numa excelente concretização formal. A exposição consegue aglutinar de forma brilhante todo o percurso do trabalho com a terra crua, desde a matéria até à ação.”

A exposição encontra-se patente no MAC/CCB até 11 de outubro.

“Terra Crua (Raw Earth) emerges as a multidisciplinary exhibition that seeks to bring to the attention of the general public the potential of earth—a natural, local, and readily available resource—as a raw material for contemporary architecture. Terra Crua, curated by Madalena Vidigal and with curatorial assistance by Reka Szilvasi, is an ambitious exhibition on a conceptual level, which maintains this high standard through excellent formal ex*****on. The exhibition brilliantly brings together the entire journey of working with raw earth, from the material itself to the act of creation.”

Radical Gestures, de Tatiana Macedo, na Rialto6

“Existe uma espécie de auto–referenciação subliminar no primeiro ato do projeto expositivo de Tatiana Macedo, Radical Gestures, algo que me agrada de sobremaneira. A exposição apresentada no espaço da Rialto6 é, desta vez, um mote subtil, mas realmente crítico, que se foca nas múltiplas questões que se debruçam sobre os museus, as suas políticas e os seus espaços proporcionadores de experiências ou, supostamente, de relações.”

Radical Gestures, de Tatiana Macedo, está patente na Rialto6 até dia 3 de outubro, com vários screenings de filmes de sua autoria.

“There is a kind of subliminal self-referencing in the first act of Tatiana Macedo’s exhibition project, Radical Gestures, something I find very pleasing. Serapinas e Ourahmane na Galeria Municipal do Porto

“As estreias nacionais do artista lituano Augustas Serapinas (1990) e da artista argelina Lydia Ourahmane (1992) marcaram o arranque do segundo ciclo de exposições de 2026 na Galeria Municipal do Porto (GMP). Tratando-se de exposições distintas, existem, no entanto, paralelismos entre ambas que remetem para uma reflexão e questionamento sobre o corpo, os seus sentidos e limites. Acresce o facto de as instalações dos dois artistas possuírem uma dimensão performativa e de se tratarem de projectos em continuidade, adaptados pelos seus criadores ao contexto nacional, mediante um trabalho colaborativo com instituições e agentes locais.”

A exposição Cultura do Corpo: Edição Porto, com curadoria de João Laila, pode ser visitada na Galeria Municipal do Porto até 18 de outubro. Para Voz, com curadoria de Krist Gruijthuijsen, está aberta na mesma instituição até 25 de outubro de 2026.

Serapinas and Ourahmane at the Porto Municipal Gallery

“The Portuguese debuts of Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas (1990) and Algerian artist Lydia Ourahmane (1992) marked the opening of the second exhibition cycle of 2026 at the Porto Municipal Gallery (GMP). Whilst these are distinct exhibitions, there are, nevertheless, parallels between them that prompt reflection and questioning regarding the body, its senses and its limits. Furthermore, the installations by both artists have a performative dimension and integrate ongoing projects, adapted by their creators to the Portuguese context through collaborative work with local institutions and cultural agents.”

The exhibition Cultura do Corpo: Porto Edition, curated by João Laila, can be visited at the Porto Municipal Gallery until 18 October. Para Voz, curated by Krist Gruijthuijsen, is on display at the same venue until 25 October 2026.

ARQUEOLOGIA REMIX: Sobre o Tempo e a Sua Incerteza

“Com curadoria de Filipa da Rocha Nunes e obras de Xiao Zhiyu, Luís Rocha, Lyz Parayzo e Joana Lourenço, Arqueologia Remix vai muito além de uma simples ilustração dos dois conceitos como aparentes opostos, incitando, antes, a uma compreensão dos mesmos enquanto propostas construtivas à problemática comum de habitar o tempo. Entre as obras reunidas, torna-se claro que em momento algum lidamos com um passado intacto ou um presente singular, pois cada tentativa de preservação implica uma reorganização e cada gesto de criação traz consigo vestígios de outras temporalidades.”

A exposição Arqueologia Remix pode ser visitada na Galeria Cristina Guerra até dia 26 de setembro de 2026.

ARQUEOLOGIA REMIX: On Time and Its Uncertainty

“Curated by Filipa da Rocha Nunes and featuring works by Xiao Zhiyu, Luís Rocha, Lyz Parayzo, and Joana Lourenço, Arqueologia Remix (Archeology Remix) goes far beyond a simple illustration of the two concepts as apparent opposites, rather encouraging an understanding of them as constructive proposals for the common challenge of inhabiting time. Among the collected works, it becomes clear that at no point are we dealing with an intact past or a singular present, for every attempt at preservation implies a reorganization, and every act of creation carries with it traces of other temporalities.”

Arqueologia Remix is on view at Galeria Cristina Guerra until September 26, 2026.
