On view in : ‘Fragile Nest’ by Yazan Abu Salameh

Concrete structures stretch before the eyes in every direction, while nature attempts to reclaim its place, but to no avail. In Abu Salameh’s works, a horse or a flock of birds appear occasionally, symbolising an attempt to recover lost nature; yet, these attempts remain fragile in the face of concrete intrusion. 

No wonder Abu Salameh is preoccupied with the cement invasion of the Palestinian landscape in the past years; since he opened his eyes to the world, the recession of Palestinian nature has accelerated in favour of a colonial geography.

Kamal Boullata’s work is distinguished by his use of geometric abstraction and angular Kufic script, drawing inspiration from the architectural and cultural heritage of Jerusalem. Working primarily in silkscreen, he developed a visual language that reflects themes of identity, memory, and exile.

His ‘Quartet Opus’ series (1994) is structured in reference to musical compositions. Through repetition and variation, these works explore the relationship between geometry and language, with the square serving as a central compositional element.

Born in Jerusalem in 1942, Boullata studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and later at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. Following 1967, he lived in exile across the United States, Morocco, France, and Germany until his passing in 2019.

Visit Booth C10 to view our solo presentation of new landscape works by Nabil Anani (.anani), created with natural materials including wood, straw, spices, and seeds. The presentation reflects Anani’s deep connection to the land and his vision of a free Palestine.

‘The Land and I’ stands as a powerful statement on the relationship between Anani, his identity as a Palestinian, and his aspiration for freedom. Through his beautifully painted landscape works, Anani ties himself and the Palestinian people to their homeland, not only as a way to assert presence but also to reimagine the future.

The booth will feature works from ‘The Land and I’, a series rooted in Anani’s lifelong engagement with Palestine’s landscape, memory, and identity.

We are proud to share that Vera Tamari () has been invited to participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of , ‘In Minor Keys’ by Koyo Kouoh, running from Saturday 9 May to Sunday 22 November 2026.

For this edition, Tamari will present works that continue her long-standing engagement with the Palestinian landscape, material memory, and cultural identity. A pioneering Palestinian artist, ceramist, art educator, Islamic art historian, and curator, Tamari works across ceramics, landscape paintings, collage, watercolour, and installations, embracing art as a tool of resistance and cultural preservation.

As part of the New Visions group, established during the First Intifada in 1989, Tamari was among the artists who turned to local materials, producing art made from the very natural materials of the land. As she has stated, “My own artwork is inspired by seeing the history in Palestinian land.”

Across her practice, the olive tree, cactus, and seeds appear as deeply rooted living forms within a Palestinian landscape afflicted by colonisation and war. Threatened, uprooted, burnt, and carelessly destroyed, they continue to defy extinction, flourishing again and finding rebirth in their ancestral habitat.

We are pleased to share that Mohammed Joha () has been invited to participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of , ‘In Minor Keys’ by Koyo Kouoh, running from Saturday 9 May to Sunday 22 November 2026.

For this edition, Joha will present new works that continue his exploration of collage as ‘an architecture of rupture and reassembly’ - a practice rooted in fragmentation, reconstruction, and memory. Bringing together fabric, paper, cardboard, plastic, and other salvaged materials, his compositions form layered surfaces that reflect shattered environments, personal histories, and the ongoing condition of displacement.

His works convey not only violence and destruction, but also endurance and resistance. At the heart of this practice is Joha’s distinction between being houseless and homeless: “We are without houses, not without a home. Our homeland is Palestine.” Through this, his canvases become sites of reconstruction, holding together loss, dignity, resistance, and care.

For a Palestinian, the road to Jericho is a path of two journeys: one of revival, leading to the warmth of the ancient town in the winter, and another of farewell, stretching toward the Jordanian border.

Hosni Radwan’s latest body of work reflects a new impressionist style, yet he maintains his typically vivid colours. The shift in painting style could be connected to the distance from his homeland after he moved to the Netherlands in recent years. The images of home are becoming more blurred, yet remain vivid, full of the excitement and emotions they bring about. Radwan’s style comes closest to abstraction in a challenge to represent a familiar geography using minimal lines and shapes. The paintings appear as a two-dimensional surface, where striking contrasts of pinks, greens, blues, and yellows seize the energy and beauty of the landscapes.

‘The Road to Jericho’ transforms his paintings into a mosaic of colourful shapes, capturing the changing scenery, from steep hills that descend sharply to where the ground flattens, and the valleys gradually widen toward the end of the road.

Currently on display as part of our group exhibition ‘Elusive Territories’, open until June 30.

Rana Samara’s project ‘Intimate Space’ explores societal norms, sexuality, gender roles, and other factors associated with modern Palestinian life.

Her artwork affirms the feminist conviction that the personal is political. Intimate spaces are translated into large-scale canvases, and continuous, frank conversations with women become the backbone of her work, thus transcending the private sphere into the public. Samara’s work challenges not only what women can discuss, but also what issues are considered valid in society, as she invites the viewer to engage with the daily lives and experiences of women towards greater empathy and understanding.

These works are currently on view at Concrete, Alserkal Avenue.
