النشأة والتأسيس
تحتوي فلسطين تراثاً ثقافياً فريداً يمثل شاهداً لتعاقب الحضارات والأديان، وبها عدداً كبيراً من المعالم الأثرية والتاريخية ذات القيمة العالمية.
يواجه هذا التراث العديد من التحديات؛ منها ضعف الوعي المجتمعي، والتعديات بالهدم والإهمال وسوء الاستخدام، إضافة إلى سياسات تهويده وتزويره من قبل الاحتلال. وضعف اهتمام جهات التمويل، والظروف السياسية في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة.
بدافع الحفاظ عل
ى الموروث الثقافي الفلسطيني تأسس مركز إيوان بالجامعة الإسلامية بغزة عام 2000م. وبرغم التحديات فقد شهدت مسيرة عمله إنجازات حافلة على صعيد صناعة الوعي المجتمعي، وترميم المباني والمواقع الأثرية، وتأهيل كوادر محلية، حتى أصبح إيوان المركز المتخصص الوحيد في ترميم المباني والمواقع الأثرية في قطاع غزة. وفاز إيوان بالجائزة الأولى للحفاظ على التراث الثقافي من منظمة الألكسو.
يحرص إيوان على العمل في إطار الشراكة والتكامل مع جهود المؤسسات العاملة في هذا المجال لتحقيق المزيد من الإنجازات في مسيرته المتميزة لخدمة التراث الفلسطيني.

الرسالة
نسعى إلى الحفاظ على التراث الثقافي وتعزيز الهوية الثقافية الفلسطينية من خلال التوعية المجتمعية بأهميته التاريخية، وتوثيقه وأرشفته، وترميم المباني والمواقع التاريخية، والحفاظ على القطع الأثرية والمتاحف والترويج لها، وتدريب الكادر البشري المتخصص، ونشر البحوث والدراسات، والتعريف بالتراث الملموس وغير الملموس، وذلك في إطار منظومة متكاملة، وبالشراكة مع مؤسسات المجتمع المحلي والدولي.

مجال التوثيق
• توثيق المباني التاريخية في البلدة القديمة بغزة والمباني الأثرية في قطاع غزة.
• توثيق العناصر الزخرفية الأثرية في غزة القديمة.
• التوثيق الرقمي للتراث الثقافي باستخدام تطبيقات GIS
مجال الصيانة والترميم
• ترميم وصيانة العشرات من البيوت السكنية الأثرية الخاصة
• تأهيل العديد من المباني الأثرية كمراكز مجتمعية بما يتناسب مع قيمتها التاريخية.
• ترميم العديد من المباني الأثرية العامة (مساجد، حمامات، أسبطة، واجهات ...)
• تطوير استراتيجيات وأولويات التدخل والحفاظ للتراث الثقافي.
مجال التوعية المجتمعية
تنظيم مئات الأنشطة التوعوية للفئات المجتمعية المختلفة (الأطفال وطلاب المدارس والجامعات والمؤسسات الأهلية والفرق الشبابية) مثل:
• الرحلات والجولات على المباني الأثرية.
• مسابقات للمصورين والرسامين والفنانين.
• المعارض الفنية
• المهرجانات الفنية
• المحاضرات والأيام الدراسية والندوات وورش العمل والمؤتمرات الدولية.
• الشراكات والزيارات مع شركاء محليين وأوروبيين.
مجال التدريب وبناء القدرات
تدريب وبناء القدرات لعشرات المتخصصين مثل:
• التدعيم الإنشائي
• التوثيق الرقمي والرفع المعماري

Establishment
Palestine has a unique cultural heritage that is a witness to the succession of civilizations and religions and has a great number of historical and archaeological monuments of global value. This heritage faces many challenges, including weak community awareness, abuse of neglect, misuse, and policies of Judaization and falsification by the occupation. In order to preserve the Palestinian cultural heritage, Iwan Center was established at the Islamic University in Gaza in 2000. In spite of the challenges, it has witnessed achievements in the field of the community awareness, the restoration of historical buildings and archaeological sites, and the rehabilitation of local human resources, until Iwan became the only specialized center in the restoration of buildings and archaeological sites in the Gaza Strip. Iwan won the first prize for the preservation of the cultural heritage of ALECSO. Iwan is keen to work within the framework of partnership and integration with the efforts of the institutions working in this field to achieve more achievements in his career to serve the Palestinian heritage. Mission
We seek to preserve the cultural heritage and promote the Palestinian cultural identity by the community awareness about its historic importance, documenting and archiving it, restoring historical buildings and archaeological sites, preserving and promoting artifacts and museums, training specialized human cadres, publishing researches and studies, and introducing tangible and intangible heritage. • Documenting all historical buildings in the Gaza old city and Gaza strip.
• Documenting all ancient ornaments in the old city of Gaza.
• Digital documentation of cultural heritage using GIS applications. Restoration
• Restoring of dozens of historical houses and private houses.
• Rehabilitate many historical houses as a community centers.
• Restoring many historical public buildings (mosques, bathrooms, Sobats, facades ...)
