One thing about me is that I love plants. And one thing about plants is that sometimes their oldest leaves and oldest parts of them have to say goodbye so that the plant can continue to grow even bigger and more beautiful. So when I came home from a small trip to some yellow leaves, I snipped them off and used them to make this abstract painting. I used them as brushes, stencils, stamps, and even as a mixing medium. This painting is an homage to my plants, but also to saying goodbye to parts of us that no longer serve us so that we can continue to grow into the best versions of ourselves. Growing up can be messy, but that’s ok, it’s all part of the process 🌿✨

Leaves/plants that were used: golden pothos, peace lily, golden bone alocasia, bird of paradise, tête-à-tête narcissus, and moon cactus 🌱🌵🪴 thank you so much for the joy you have brought me

Did you know that Israel banned the Palestinian flag from being used many years ago when Israel gained control of the West Bank and Gaza way back in 1967? That’s how the birth of the watermelon as Palestine’s symbol of resistance and protest against oppression came about 🍉 it still has all of the colors of their flag- red, green, white, and black, without being the actual flag. This painting was inspired by this and “The Treachery of Images” by René Magritte (“this is not a pipe”), so the bottom translates to “this is not the flag of Palestine”.

Since August, I’ve been waiting with bated breath for October 21. Now that Midnights is here, I can honestly say it’s one of my favorite albums, probably ever. There’s so many raw moments of vulnerability and lots of experimentation from Taylor. The wait was definitely worth it. I couldn’t pick a single song off of Midnights to do, so for the first time, I chose to paint the whole album. I tried to capture elements of each song and the general vibe of the record. I also tried something new and painted this on a vinyl record. The album has been out for just over a week now, and I’m still as obsessed with it as the first night it released. Hope you like my synesthesia painting of it, and be sure to stream Midnights by 💜✨🕰
