🎤 Join the Spoken Word Workshop with Jamal Abu Jaas 🎭
The Freedom Theatre, in collaboration with Orient and Dance Theatre, invites you to join an advanced Spoken Word workshop, open to anyone interested in developing their performance and creative writing skills across the occupied Palestinian territories, especially from Ramallah and Al-Bireh.
Led by Jamal Abu Jaas from Jenin Camp, (a graduate from The Freedom Theatre Academy of Performing Arts), this workshop offers a hands-on journey into contemporary performance art. Participants will explore the intersection of voice, body, and text, transforming personal writing into a live presence that resonates deeply with audiences.
🔹 About Jamal Abu Jaas:
• Specialized Poetry Slam training with poet and writer Sharifa Energy (UK).
• Extensive Spoken Word training and experience in storytelling with artist Fidaa Zeidan.
• Participation in a scriptwriting workshop for Al-Harah Theatre with Bashar Murkus.
• Led creative writing workshops for youth through The Freedom Theatre’s child and youth Program.
• Playwright, drama trainer, and performer with involvement in multiple Freedom Theatre productions, including:
• Keffiyeh / Made in China
• The Elephant
• Voices from Love and War (actor & scriptwriter)

Spoken Word is a performance art that blends poetry, storytelling, monologue, and the internal music of language, relying on voice, body, rhythm, and personal expression. It is written to be spoken aloud and thrives on individual experience and the sharing of stories. Unlike competitive formats, it provides an open, human-centered space for creativity, honesty, and authentic expression.
