She is the girl in the photograph.
Antoinette Sithole ran beside her brother, Hector Pieterson, as he was carried away dying on 16 June 1976. Fifty years later she stands in front of Sam Nzima’s image in Soweto and tells the story again. Not to keep the pain alive. To heal.
Forgive, but don’t forget. No hatred. No living inside grief. We are all human. It was never about colour.
I listened. I stayed present. And I understood why art and storytelling belong at the centre of how we teach.
