ENGLISH

It was an absolute pleasure to host and in residence at Caborca House as they continue collaborating and developing “Larga Distancia.”

The piece, largely written by Rojo Robles and performed by Kairiana Nuñez, was conceived as a duo and explores an aesthetic rooted in precarity, orality, and bodily transformation. It approaches performance as a form of resistance, a living archive, and a collective space of possibility.

This work-in-progress was shared at the Centro Cultural Clemente Soto Vélez.

This project has received financial support from the Puerto Rican Arts Initiative (PRAI) and the Mellon Foundation, as well as infrastructure and residency support from Caborca Theater.

✨ 🎥 Back in February, Javier together with Dr. Ramón Espejo interviewed the legendary Alina Troyano / Carmelita Tropicana at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

This conversation is part of an effort to preserve archives of Latine theatre history in New York City, ensuring these stories live on for future generations.

Now the full interview is available through the Library’s Digital Collections and in the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive (TOFT) screening room.

👉 You can watch it online or visit the TOFT room on the 3rd floor of the NYPL.

Presentada como un trabajo en proceso, la obra incluía música original por María Pilli Aponte; video e iluminación por Jeannette Yew; escenografía de Jian Jung;
vestuarios de Cristina Fitch;
producción de Jenny Tibbels.
Dirección de Javier Antonio González.
Asistente de dirección: Christian Felix.
