Santa Fe Indian Market was featured in Hyperallergic! As one of the leading platforms for contemporary art and culture, Hyperallergic is known for its independent reporting on the stories shaping today’s art world.
This year’s piece by journalist Erin Averill carried so many voices — from anonymous street art, to first-time artists like Carmen Selam (Yakama Nation), Melissa Freeman (Chickasaw/Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma), and Regina Free (Chickasaw ), whose Windswept (Bison) was awarded Best of Show.
It also highlighted the bold vision of painter Hiro Cash (Diné), alongside long-time participants like Lonnie Vigil (Nambé Pueblo) and Virgil Ortiz (Cochiti), and included reflections from our Executive Director, Jamie Schulze (Northern Cheyenne/Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate).
By weaving together these perspectives, the article captured what draws Indian Market visitors back year after year: a space to belong, to be inspired, to innovate, to shine, and to define a space in art world on our own terms.
