Dear Friends,
We are participating as JUNTE in SkowheganPERFORMS this Saturday at Socrates Sculpture Park with a performative action in response to ongoing crises in Mexico and Puerto Rico.
We would love your help. We will be initiating performative actions at 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. We need participants for these actions, especially the first at 2pm.
The task is simple: We will be creating a human chain, similar to disaster sites where the community comes together to help each other. We will also be encouraging park visitors to join in this chain, but we are hoping the first performance with our friends will help initiate other people joining. If you can come on Saturday to volunteer, email me to let me know. We will gather at 1:30pm for the action at 2pm. Bring kids, family, friends, etc.
We have prepared a publication with first-hand accounts of people who have been through these disasters in both places. Some of these people are traveling to New York to participate in this performance. See the pics.

What is JUNTE?
Junte is an arts and culture project founded in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico in December 2016 by a group of 8 artists both local and international. It operates under the cordial support and mentorship of Casa Pueblo of Adjuntas, a legendary self-sustaining environmentalist community organization. Junte is a place of gathering, where global and local communities engage in cultural exchange through the arts. Participants share, learn, and connect across various cultures with the aim of fostering local communities. As an alternative to the Federal Fiscal Board or as Puerto Ricans call it, “Junta,” Junte’s philosophy is to work holistically and laterally, providing a horizontal platform to collectively cultivate culture and reinforce its relevance to politics.
