However, although skirts became flowing and less restrictive, corsets remained essential in shaping the fashionable hourglass and S-bend silhouette. Bodices were typically fitted and high-necked, often layered with jackets, and paired with sleeves that extended to the wrists.
In the early ๐๐๐๐๐ฌ, the puffed ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐จ๐ง ๐ฅ๐๐ sleeve (a look Iโm obsessed with!) came into vogue. Its dramatic volume increased throughout the decade, reaching its height around ๐๐๐๐ before gradually diminishing toward the end of the 1890s.
Feathers still remained a thing! They often adorned the hats of women from all social classes.
