Artystka wyławia z nich geometrię, rytm i sposób pracy z materiałem, a następnie nadaje im własną logikę.

The wooden architecture of the church in Dębno Podhalańskie serves as a source for some of the forms and details in the work of basia pruszyńska. Shingles, sculptural details, ornamental reliefs, and floral motifs on the vaults become, for her, not ready-made references but a kind of alphabet. She extracts from them geometry, rhythm, and ways of working with the material, and then gives them her own logic. This is a gesture characteristic of her practice as a whole: rather than recreating tradition, she breaks it down into its constituent parts and builds something new from them. In “Polecie,” Polish folklore is therefore not a place to which one needs to return, but a point of departure. From inherited forms, materials, and symbols, Pruszyńska constructs her own position – one suspended between belonging and autonomy, memory and vision.
