🔴INVOCATION – start with the impact!

🗓️Aug 23rd, 2 hours • 8:00 - 10:00 am PDT
🗺️Room: Palm 5 at ImprovCon

An Inspiration is just the beginning. Invocation expands it into a world of images, thoughts, metaphors and connections shared by the ensemble. In this workshop, we explore the Invocation as a poetic and playful way to start scenes and shows. You’ll learn to move beyond the obvious, follow intuition, and create layered, meaningful openings that inspire both performers and audience.

Happy to announce this week WORKSHOP #1:

🔴Characters’ POV:
The Secret of Engaging Characters!

🗓️2 hours • 8:00 - 10:00 am PDT
🗺️Room: California 1 at ImprovCon

Each person is distinguished or similar to others by worldview, preference and point of view. Developing characters with strong, original perspectives helps generate comedy, as humor often arises from the clash between a character’s beliefs and the reality surrounding them. Rather than getting stuck in arguments on stage, we explore playful tension, contrast, and unexpected interactions that make scenes lively and engaging. In this workshop, you’ll experiment with character POV, creating expressive, unique, and dynamic characters with distinct opinions, quirks, and ways of seeing the world—characters that are fun to play, enjoyable to watch, and resonate with the audience.

Off Script On Scene In Sync A Practice of Improvisation in Performance

Off-Script — spontaneity, freedom from formula, no predetermined answers In Sync — ensemble awareness, collective intelligence, shared listening On Scene — presence, craft, the moment-to-moment reality of performance Great scene work isn’t figured out — it’s felt. This workshop strips away formula and returns you to instinct: reading your partner, trusting the room, following what’s alive. Like jazz, the practice is engagement itself — call and response, deep listening, the courage to play into the unknown. Pattern, theme, and structure rise on their own. Beat to beat. Body to body. Fully in it. It’s Alive. Dig It.

This is a Two Day Workshop,
6 hours split into two 3-hour sessions (Saturday + Sunday)
