I still can’t believe this is a reproduction of an icon of the Kazan Mother of God that I writed by hand myself 🥹

When I was a child, we didn’t have hand-written icons at home because they were very expensive, but we had many printed ones. And one day I thought — how wonderful it would be to create beautiful icons that everyone could afford and bring into their home.

We worked on developing this icon for several months, and finally it is ready ✨

The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Hodegetria” is one of the most ancient and profound images in the Byzantine tradition.
The name comes from the Greek Ὁδηγήτρια — “She Who Shows the Way.” The gesture of the Mother of God points toward Christ as the true Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Who am I?

My name is Anastasiia. I’m an artist and iconographer, born in Ukraine 🇺🇦 into a large Orthodox family, where from an early age I experienced God’s presence and grew up surrounded by love for the spiritual life.

I have been painting for as long as I can remember. At the age of 10 I entered art school, at 15 I began studying at the Lviv Art College, and by 16 I was already receiving my first commissions for oil portraits 🎨

When I was 18, I joined a seven-day pilgrimage on foot and felt such profound grace that I realized: I want to dedicate my life to serving God. To remain with Him in prayer and not let the vanity of this world draw me away from His presence.

After college, with this calling in my heart, I enrolled in an iconography school in Poland (Bielsk Podlaski), where I spent 3.5 years learning to write icons in the traditional canonical style.

Today I live in Warsaw: I create icons and paintings, work with clients from around the world, teach private oil painting lessons, and share my creative journey through a blog🌍

My inspiration comes from nature, traveling, family warmth, long walks with my beloved husky 🐺 — and, above all, from God and prayer.

I am not perfect, nor a saint, but I strive every day to be better than I was yesterday. Iconography helps me in this — always guiding me toward the right path🙏🏻
