Kolejne zdjęcia z serii "Loneliness".
Pewien człowiek napisał: Samotność to przestrzeń, z której chcę uciekać. Boję się jej, bo boję się spotkać siebie. Wiem, że jeśli nauczę się być sam ze sobą, nauczę się też być z innymi. Ale i tego się lękam, bo w samotności mylę ją z osamotnieniem.

A certain person wrote: Solitude is a space I want to escape from. I fear it because I fear meeting myself. I know that if I learn to be alone with myself, I will also learn to be with others. Yet I fear this too, because in solitude, I mistake it for loneliness.

Pierwsze dwa zdjęcia z serii "Loneliness", które pokazuję dzisiaj, powstały jako wizualne obrazy do wiersza "Samotność" Rainera Marii Rilkego.
The first two images from the "Loneliness" series, which I am sharing today, were created as visual interpretations of the poem "Loneliness" by Rainer Maria Rilke.

*Samotność jest jak deszcz.
Z morza powstaje, aby spotkać zmierzch;
z równin niezmiernie szerokich, dalekich,
w rozległe niebo nieustannie wrasta.
Dopiero z nieba opada na miasta.

Mży nieuchwytnie w godzinach przedświtu,
kiedy ulice biegną witać ranek,
i kiedy ciała, nie znalazłszy nic,
od siebie odsuwają się rozczarowane;
i kiedy ludzie, co się nienawidzą,
spać muszą razem – bardziej jeszcze sami:
samotność płynie całymi rzekami.*

*Loneliness is like the rain.
It rises from the sea when the daylight wanes
and gathers around the darkest plains.
It ascends to heaven, where it finds a home,
then falls on the city, scattered and alone.

It rains down on the sad, disjointed
hours when streets pass into dawn,
when naked bodies, disappointed
in each other, put their clothes back on,
when people in whom all love is gone
sleep in one bed, bitterly …
then loneliness returns to the sea.*

WAR has many faces. The first association with war is fighting and blood.
But war is also about fear and loneliness of people who do not fight with guns in their hands.
It is powerlessness and overpowering fear for their families, for husbands and wives who went to fight.
This is not shown every day on television news. Victims - Heroes we must always remember.

Commentary:
This past weekend I was at a wonderful place, the Michalowice photography retreat. This amazing periodic meeting was supposed to be our celebration of photography. However, this time, we were overwhelmed by the news of Russia's attack on Ukraine. I was not able to realize planned photographic projects.
The only thing we could do was to try to relate to this tragic situation...

WOJNA ma nie jedno oblicze. Pierwsze skojarzenie wojny to walka i krew.
Ale wojna to też strach i samotność ludzi niewalczących z bronią w ręku.
To niemoc i obezwładniający strach o swoje rodziny, o mężów i żony, którzy poszli walczyć.
Tego się nie pokazuje codziennie w telewizyjnych relacjach. Ofiary - Bohaterowie, o których zawsze musimy pamiętać.

Komentarz:
W ostatni weekend byłem w cudownym miejscu, plenerze fotograficznym Michałowice. To niesamowite cylkiczne spotkanie miało być naszym świętem fotografii. Tym razem jednak spotkaliśmy się przytłoczeni wiadomością o napaści Rosji na Ukrainę. Nie byłem w stanie realizować zaplanowanych projektów fotograficznych.
Jedyne, co mogliśmy zrobić, to próbować odnieść się do tej tragicznej sytuacji...
